NAPS TREBLE AND 14-1 NATIONAL WIN: After a 25-1 short-head defeat on Saturday, value-thief Daqman cracked the so-called safe bets yesterday with the 14-1 Amateur National winner at Punchestown to plunder 50 points! He was already out of jail by completing a hat-trick of naps with a 9-4 hit at 4.7 on BETDAQ. King of the tipsters? There is no doubt.
Sunday profit on the day: 68.50 to recommended stakes
WON 14-1 ROYAL THIEF (Amateur National bulls-eye bet – pictured below)
WON 9-4 THEREISNODOUBT (nap)
Hat-trick of naps: 52 points profit to recommended stakes
WON 9-4 THEREISNODOUBT (Sunday nap)
WON 9-2 GREY DAWNING (Saturday nap)
WON 11-10 TOM CREEN (Friday nap)
WEEKEND WRAP: Daqman starts today with a review of the weekend races, adding one of the winners to his list of FORTUNE COOKIES horses to follow.
JACK FROST APPROACHING: Another bad spell of weather looms this week. Fontwell was called off today (waterlogged) whilst Chepstow (Tuesday), Clonmel (Tuesday), Newbury (Wednesday), Plumpton (Wednesday) have all announced inspections. Better news from Ireland today where Punchestown passed their morning inspection and will race on heavy ground.
PIC A LONG WAY FROM PEAK
Another Frodon? Pic D’Orhy has now won five in a row, still standing, with the exception of defeat by the sidelined L’Homme Presse in a novices’ chase at Sandown almost a year back.
The same stable’s Frodon won Saturday’s Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton in 2020 and, despite just three races in between, took the King George at the end of that year.
Pic D’Orhy is the same age as was Frodon when he won the Kempton launch by little more than a length but took the same race 16 lengths on Saturday. I’m adding him to my FORTUNE COOKIES.
The next target is Ascot on February 18 where Pic D’Orhy (a peak in the Pyrenees) is likely to meet Shishkin, who had to miss the Silviniaco Conti with a wind fault, which requires a minor op.
Dan Skelton won four races out of five at Kempton and Warwick, landing me a 9-2 nap with Grey Dawning but pipping my 25-1 runner-up Red Risk a short-head with West Balboa.
Grey Dawning will step up to 3m and go for the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival.
Another one of mine pipped into second was Ashtown Lad in a hurdle race, doing no harm to his Aintree Grand National chance.
But the news from Ireland is that Peter Fahey’s The Big Dog will go for the National, in an all-or-nothing move for the 10-year-old Troytown and Munster National winner.
Impaire Et Passe dismissed the challenge of the mare, Shecouldbeanything, at Punchestown yesterday and has a range of Cheltenham chances from 2m to 3m. He could be anything!
CENTRE STAGE FOR LEADiNG LADY
⭕ 1.40 Hereford Opposing ANYTHING the Skeltons run (see above!) at present might not be a chapter that appears in ‘Winning Racing Systems’ but I think their Missed Tee looks opposable at current odds on Betdaq Betting Exchange.
With 5 winners from his last 13 runners, Dan Skelton is placing his horses well but I thought Missed Tee looks to have a hefty enough starting handicap mark of 109 and the mare will need to defy top weight around here on soft ground over a new trip.
Whilst she won at Uttoxeter last time out over two miles she didn’t automatically look as though a longer trip on softer ground was called for. On the flip side she is still lightly raced and could easily improve bundles and leave me red-faced.
Ramo is the obvious market danger but I’m not sold on him either. The Venetia Williams trained runner was quite well beaten on his first start since joining the stable from France and ended up being third (having started odds-on) at Leicester.
Leading Theatre looks a credible alternative to both. Fergal O’Brien’s runner brings by far the most experience of the trio and has a bit of class too going back to her Listed bumper runner-up effort at Cheltenham.
The only doubt with her is the ground as she has been mainly kept to a quicker surface but she handled testing OK in the point sphere and I’m willing to take the chance for a WIN 20 return.
NAP ALERT AT WOLVERHAMPTON
⭕ 6.30 Wolverhampton On a day of slim pickings Danger Alert rates the nap of the day.
Official ratings cannot be trusted heavily back in maiden company but I’d still be picking him in a handicap over main danger Erosion Risk – so I’m loosely thinking I have 11lb up my sleeve here!
Both are struggling for that first win but at least something has changed with Danger Alert who is fitted with first time blinkers and his class 2 effort here last time out reads exceptionally well in the context of this race. Dropping a full THREE RUNGS down the class ladder he should surely be good enough to land this?
Erosion Risk has been plying his trade at class 4/5 level and was hanging right handed at Chelmsford last time out and might need a pair of blinkers himself soon.
⭕ 7.30 Wolverhampton Hat-trick seeking Johnny Bloom takes out a big chunk of the market in the finale but a 5lb rise in the weights might make things much harder.
I prefer the Andrew Balding trained Roscioli who aside from hailing from a bang in form yard was an eye-catcher here last time out having met significant trouble in the home straight. Over the same trip and in the same grade compensation may await.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
