THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s 3rd ODI between Big Bash match between South Africa v England with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have the third and final ODI between South Africa and England on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Wednesday in Kimberley. This has been an excellent series so far with plenty of runs, and although South Africa have already won the series 2-0, this is still a vital game for them in the ODI Super League. There is only one automatic qualifying spot left for the 2023 ODI World Cup, and at the moment South Africa are out of the top eight.
They currently sit in ninth spot, nine points behind the West Indies but given you get ten points for a win, they can jump over them here. It would be a surprise if South Africa didn’t end up in that fourth spot given they have home advantage over West Indies and they also have the rescheduled home games against the Netherlands, but nevertheless another win here would be very welcome.
Their batting has really fired in the opening two ODI’s. They chased down England’s 342/7 at the weekend which is clearly very impressive. England were a short price to defend that score but a century from Temba Bauvma and David Miller seeing them home got the job done. They’ll need another good batting performance here because the England batting line-up looks to be hitting form at the moment – Jason Roy recorded a welcome century in the first ODI too! For England, you’d have to say, as always, the bowling is the worry. Hopefully the change in conditions can improve them.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We move to Kimberley for the final ODI after the first two were played in Bloemfontein. This is basically an “out ground” in South Africa – not their usual pick for a big International game, and no Test cricket. Usually you’d see the likes of Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka play here rather than England. Because of Covid19, we actually haven’t had an ODI here since 2018 so I’d go into this game with a completely open mind on conditions. I’d lean towards a decent wicket because we all know the fans and TV love runs, but let’s wait and see what conditions are like.
RECOMMENDED BET:
South Africa might have won the opening two ODI’s, but they still come into this game as the underdogs. In fairness, the odds have shifted out a little and we have a pretty even market. I still feel South Africa offer value at 2.1 – based on everything we’ve seen I expect a very even game here and would have the sides 50/50 before the start. Add into the mix that we don’t fully have a read on conditions, and the 2.1 looks small value. Both sides look in good form, with a slight edge towards the South African batting line-up who have been brilliant twice and as we all know, the England bowling is always there to get at if you play well.
The Edge Says:
One point win South Africa to beat England at 2.1 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
We saw two very different batting displays from England in the sense that the openers scored runs and the middle order crumbled, then the openers went early and the middle order really fired. Because we don’t have any recent ground data it’s very difficult to form a good in-running strategy here and sometimes the best option is no trade – I believe this is one of those times! Definitely wait and see what conditions are like, but maybe wait until the second innings and go from there – this is one of those games to ride the market momentum rather than having a set plan.
