WEEKEND GREYHOUND PREVIEW: In this week’s piece we look at the three semi-finals of the Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket from Crayford on Saturday morning. (RPGTV). Plus: Romford on Friday night for the final of the (Coral) Friday Night Bonanza and Shelbourne Park on Saturday night for the second round of the Gold Cup.

Pressure to Increase at Crayford

Low Pressure ran out an emphatic winner of his first-round heat of the Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket on Saturday when coming home clear of his rivals in 45:40, the second fastest time of round one. Fast away from trap three Low Pressure quickly established a sizeable advantage on the first circuit and maintained a strong gallop to the line. He has been drawn in trap one in the first semi final on Saturday morning and has umpteen lengths in hand on his rivals on the clock. Splashdash Tommy chased home Low Pressure last weekend and will be hoping to do the same this Saturday. Roll On Sydney is a dog of huge potential over this trip but will need to improve his trapping, he’s not without a chance of making it to next weekends decider. Bellmore Sally will be popular in the ring after her odds-on defeat last week.  Sally has a good draw to operate from but must come away racing to be seen at her best. Only two will qualify from each of the three semis with Low Pressure selected to lead home Roll On Sydney.

The second semi is due off at 11:54 and here last weeks fastest winner Minnie Bullet has been handed an ace draw in one. Burgess Hannah chased her home last weekend but has plenty to find on that running and its hard to see her reversing the form with Minnie Bullet. Luna Jezabelle came from well off the pace to score in her heat and has an experience edge around here on her rivals. Droopys Jungle came from another parish to score for Matt Dartnall last time out, she was well off the pace before surging to victory in a messy heat. She has stamina in spades but can’t afford to give the likes of Minnie Bullet to much rope. Minnie Bullet is a confident selection to take the second semi with Luna Jezabelle likely to follow her home.

Olga is the only winner on show in the third semifinal. Pat Curtin’s bitch is on a hat trick having won her last two starts at the track and if coming away as she has done in her previous two starts, she is impossible to impose. Sweet Talker was runner up behind Olga last weekend and met some trouble in running, he is expected to narrow the gap on Olga and follow her home in second place.

Friday Night at Romford

The Romford Friday Night Bonanza is the highlight of the RPGTV televised card from the Essex venue this Friday evening. Due off at 20:54 Hawkfield Mia will be a warm order to continue her progressive from of late. Mia has won her last three at the track and is currently 4/6 to make it four in a row. Droopys Good always must be feared. He has drawn trap one in the decider but must come away in style to make his presence felt. Supa Nova heads the remainder at 8/1, he has huge pace but his trapping has been his downfall in recent weeks. At a price Annadown King may be worth a small bet. Mark Wallis son of Pat C Sabbath has yet to get to the front in this event but will improve significantly if he does. Available at 14/1 Annadown King is fancied to outrun his big odds.

Gold Cup at Shelbourne

The  Paddy Kehoe Suspended Ceilings Gold Cup continues at Shelbourne Park this weekend. In the first of the four quarter finals Galloping Sydney is a strong fancy to make all. Kilgraney Sydney was a good winner last weekend, however Galloping Sydney beat a good field last time and can go in again. Another Holiday look a sure-fire leader in heat two. He should come on for last weeks come back run. Clona Duke was extremely unlucky last weekend and if he can track Another Holiday around he will can prove too strong in the second half of the race. Derby Champion Born Warrior will be a warm order in heat three but faces stern opposition in the shape of Rathdown Molly and Crokers Spirit. A chance is taken on Crokers Spirit to rediscover his best form from the red jacket. In the final heat the early yards are crucial with Ballycrystal Ace, Radical Hero and Crafty Bonanza all capable of flying to the corner. None will be finishing faster than Toolmaker Wilde but he may have to much to do. Radical Hero should improve from last weeks run and is selected to make all in the final heat.
