BRENTFORD V FULHAM

8pm We have Monday Night Football this week on the BETDAQ Betting Exchange from the Premier League and we should have an entertaining game too as Brentford host Fulham. Both sides are very likely to come up short in the race for the European spots this season, but for the time being they are definitely in the mix. Fulham start this game four points ahead of Brentford, but Brentford have two games in hand and over all have been playing the better football. We should have an interesting night on our hands!

Brentford come into the game as favourites with home advantage, but they aren’t trading odds on. The home side are 2.08 at the time of writing, with Fulham 3.85 and the draw is 3.75. Fulham have been massively over-performing this season, but you have to give them credit they have been picking up a lot of points. They have been conceding a lot of chances, but sides just aren’t taking them. Their average xG conceded this season is 1.8 which is a figure we usually see from sides in the relegation battle, but sides haven’t been taking their chances against them – their actual goals conceded works out at only 1.2. That’s a big difference.

The xG table might put them into the bottom half of the table, but that’s still a great result considering they were one of the favourites to go down this season after coming up from the Championship. You have to give them massive credit. What has saved them really has been they have been excellent going forward, and have put plenty of sides under a lot of pressure this season. Brentford are another side that like to play an open game – they have been much better going forward though. Their average xG created is a very high 1.9 and their average conceded is 1.5.

If I had to have a bet in the match odds market I would go for Brentford at 2.08. They are fantastic at home, and usually create a lot of chances. I know Fulham’s figures are poor at the back, but that hasn’t translated into their results yet so I’m going to stay away from the match odds market. The bet that jumps off the page here is Over 2.5 goals at 1.95. I was really surprised to see it trading that high – this game screams goals in my opinion as both sides like to play an open and attacking game. They both leave gaps at the back too, and we should have a very entertaining game for Monday Night Football!

The Striker Says:
Three points win Over 2.5 goals at 1.95 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

FACTMAN MATCH STATS

● Brentford have won four of their last five home league games against Fulham (L1), winning 1-0 the last time they hosted the Cottagers in league competition in December 2019 in the Championship.
● Fulham won the reverse fixture against Brentford 3-2 in August; they’ve only done a Premier League double over three London sides – Charlton in 2002-03, Tottenham in 2003-04 and QPR in 2011-12.
● Brentford are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League games (W5 D6), the longest current run in the competition. However, they’ve won just one of their last nine league London derbies (D6 L2).
● After winning just one of 17 Premier League away games on a Monday between 2001-02 and 2018-19 (D5 L11), Fulham have won each of their last two (2-1 at Leicester in November 2020, 3-0 at Crystal Palace this season).
● Fulham have won 11 Premier League games this season, last winning more in 2011-12 (14). They’ve also won five away games this term, their joint-most in a single Premier League campaign (also 2003-04).
● Brentford have never lost a Premier League game in which they’ve scored first (W17 D4), with 10 of those games coming this season (W8 D2). However, they’re one of just three sides yet to win when conceding first so far in 2022-23 (D6 L4).
● Both Brentford and Fulham have scored a league-high 15 Premier League goals from set-pieces so far this season, with no side netting more penalties than the Bees (5).
● Only Harry Kane (8) has scored more goals in Premier League London derbies this season than Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and Brentford’s Ivan Toney (4 each). In Mitrovic’s case, only Dimitar Berbatov has ever scored more London derby goals for Fulham in a single Premier League campaign (6 in 2012-13).
● Since their promotion to the Premier League in 2021, Ivan Toney has scored 31% of Brentford’s goals (26/85), the highest ratio of any player for a team to have played across both campaigns.
● Fulham’s Manor Solomon has scored in each of his last three Premier League games, all as a substitute. Only one player – Jamie Vardy from November 2018 to October 2020 – has ever scored in four consecutive substitute appearances in the Premier League, while no player has ever done so in an uninterrupted run of games for a club in the competition.
