CONTINUOUS O’BRIEN WINNERS

THE WORD for weekend racing is of two from the top yards of Charlie Appleby and Aidan O’Brien.

Softly, softly. Continuous is earmarked for the French Derby, because he needs the cut in the ground. O’Brien chooses between Sandown on Friday (currently soft) and Sunday at Longchamp (almost always soft).

Adayar (Charlie Appleby), runner-up in the 2021 Sandown Classic Trial, could be back on the Esher track for Friday’s Gordon Richards Stakes.

RULING AGAIN?

⭕ 4.50 Kempton Evening racing at Kempton – but with a twist – it’s a Jumps card not Flat ! The field sizes have also held up quite well which is a tonic after the dearth of non runners blighted the racing on Sunday.

Russian Ruler looks the nap on the card in the opening novices’ hurdle. Nicky Henderson’s runner took a heavy fall at Newbury on his first start since wind surgery in February so it was reassuring to see him none the worse for that trauma when returning to the track last month and winning a class 3 event with plenty in hand. His jumping was also fine that day.

This looks an easier assignment and the quicker ground shouldn’t cause him any problems.

Kitesurfer has a few too many question marks. He was a soft ground winner at Vichy on his only start but hasn’t been seen for 330 days since and the Betdaq Betting Exchange will probably be the best guide.

Alien Storm could be the danger. He ran well here in November and disappointing efforts in two starts since could probably be attributed to softer than ideal going.

GAME WINNER TO DO JUST THAT

⭕ 5.20 Kempton Another novice event in which the value call looks to be with the Harry Derham trained Game Winner who didn’t need to live totally up to his name when coasting to a 23 length success here in February.

He made it look as easy as his price tag of 1/5 suggested that day and whilst the value of the form might not be up to much he looks the progressive one in a field with plenty of exposed types.

That would include the likely market leader Twinjets who ran disappointingly last time at Sandown when pulled up in a class 1 event. This is without doubt much easier but the concern if you are playing at short odds is that his best form has come with give in the ground and Kempton is, surprisingly, forecast as good tonight. Put it down to the Sunbury microclimate!

CHEERS DOM

⭕ 7.25 Kempton Dom Perry hails from Hughie Morrison’s in form yard who won this same race last year.

After a Southwell win (on good) in February, Dom Perry has been consistent in three starts since and is preferred to Magistrato (class dropper but has been well beaten in last three starts now), hat-trick seeking Patient Dream (6lb hike in weights looks harsh for latest narrow win at Ludlow) and Too Friendly (became disappointing when trained by Dan Skelton and has first start here for James Owen).

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
