DAQMAN LANDS THE GUINEAS DOUBLE: Daqman had two more big-race winners yesterday, including the Irish 2,000 Guineas, one bet one winner, Paddington at 3-1, to follow on his Newmarket Guineas win with Chaldean at 7-2. Which one will he choose for his Fortune Cookies? Look out next week.

WON 3-1 PADDINGTON (Irish 2,000 Guineas)
WON 1-1 LITTLE BIG BEAR (Fortune Cookie)
WON 6-4 COVEY (doubled with Little Big Bear)

NOW FOR THE FILLIES’ VERSION: There’s now a Guineas treble on the cards today if Daqman can add the fillies’ version, the Irish 1,000 Guineas, to his 2,000 double. Again there are Fortune Cookies involved in that race and in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, also at the Curragh. Daqman’s score against Pricewise is now 23-12.

NEXT WEEK: It’s Derby week! So stay with BETDAQ, the best preview service and the best betting market.

16.0 TARAWA IN WELD ONE-TWO

⭕ 3.50 Curragh (Irish 1,000 Guineas) It was a slow-run 2,000 Guineas yesterday until late inside the final furlong when Paddington suddenly engaged a gear no one knew he had.

Which one of today’s fillies can keep the Curragh 1,000 at home for 10 years in a row with a similar burst on the watered ground?

FORTUNE COOKIE Tahiyra was beaten only half a length in the Newmarket version in a time faster than Chaldean’s 2,000 and faster than yesterday’s Paddington 2,000.

Yet Dermot Weld said after the English 1,000 that Tahiyra’s speed was ‘nullified slightly’ by the soft ground at Newmarket.

Today Weld, who trains at the Curragh, will take Tarawa with Tahiyra on a Sunday afternoon stroll from the stables to try to corner the €285k first prize.

Tarawa made up a lot of ground in the straight to run a close second in her trial at Leopardstown three weeks back, her first run since breaking her maiden last October.

There’s a huge difference in their chances, according to the market, but Tarawa’s sire got the flying-machine Pinatubo and her dam’s sire produced supermare Integral.

I would be surprised if the Aidan O’Brien filly, Meditate, could take a step forward after eight races; this is her third run in a row off a similar mark.

Tahiyra beat her in the Moyglare and by 11 lengths in the Newmarket 1,000. I shall back Weld to win, and I won’t mind whether it’s my Fortune Cookie or his 15-1 outsider.

Betdaq Betting Exchange value 16.0 Tarawa

DUEL OF THE FORTUNE COOKIES

⭕ 2.45 Curragh (Tattersalls Gold Cup) This looks a match between Champion Stakes winner Bay Bridge and supplemented Eclipse star Vadeni, who had Bay Bridge four lengths behind in fifth that day and was only half a length down in the Arc.

Both were beaten in their Spring return for the Prix Ganay in the mud at Longchamp, won by rising stayer Iresine.

Luxembourg was nearly two lengths up on Vadeni in the Irish Champion Stakes was only seventh in the Arc.

He ran poorly on his return in the Mooresbridge (time very slow), when Lafayette and Piz Badile were second and third.

⭕ 2.45 Saint-Cloud (Prix Corrida) No one else but Hollie Doyle has ridden Nashwa in her eight-race career since October 2021, including when third in the Epsom Oaks to Tuesday and winning her the French Oaks 16 days later.

⭕ 4.25 Curragh (Gallinule Stakes) Drumroll’s second to Paddington in the Tetrarch Stakes (Mister Mister third) looks good after yesterday’s Guineas, and he’s a strong even-money bet here.

The grey Kingswood and the gelding Save Your Love, who should be suited by the step up in trip, could hold Pivotal Trigger, whose name warns you that he is by the soft-ground sire, Pivotal.

SKELTON IS WALKING IN CLOVER

⭕ 3.55 Uttoxeter Remember the Jumps? They’re back today and tomorrow for yet another English Bank Holiday weekend, and can’t be as bad as queuing at Dover for a boat to nowhere.

Appropriate bets on the holiday card here at Uttoxeter are Universal Folly and Blow The Budget.

Dan Skelton has skilfully placed his two, Walk In Clover (BETDAQ 9.4) and Quid Pro Quo (12.0), to be joint-bottom of the handicap, getting a stone and a half or so from topweight Tea Clipper.

Skelton remains in stunning form, with 23 horses in the first four from 30 runners in the last two weeks, six winners booted home at 3-1, 7-2 (twice), 7-1, 12-1 and 40-1.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
