THE ARC FAVOURITE ON TRIAL: Daqman’s Fortune Cookies update is delayed a day or two, dependent on today’s entries for the Ebor Festival at York next week and on the outcome at Deauville this afternoon, when the Arc favourite, Ace Impact, is challenged by both Aidan O’Brien and Joseph O’Brien, combining with a hot trio from Ireland.

10/1 TUESDAY NAP: Daqman heads to Newcastle via Deauville today in search of Betdaq winners. He hopefully saves the best until last with a sporting 10/1 NAP at Gosforth Park.

FRENCH ACE MUST MAKE IMPACT

THANKS a lot, Frankie! I hope you don’t bow out like Frank Sinatra (six ‘farewells’, I think it was). It’s too expensive for me.

That Milanese risotto of pure genius and profound cheek conjured up a remarkable ride on Inspiral in Sunday’s Jacques Le Marois, a Fortune Cookie cast-away after her defeat by Triple Time at Ascot – only fifth on Sunday – and flop in the Goodwood mud the last day.

So a 78-10 winner missed because I was in too much of a hurry to eliminate a loser? I should have been patient?

Not really; it’s more like the problem I have now with Auguste Rodin. Fortune Cookies are about routinely backing short-odds reliable horses.

And when a Derby winner flops TWICE – in the Guineas and the King George – you just don’t have the consistency to make a profit.

Frankie’s farewell ride at Deauville on Inspiral blew out my bet on Big Rock, who as a three-year-old, was on the upgrade against a seemingly below-par Inspiral and his four wins in a row had been followed by second in the French Derby.

But, with Frankie admitting he hadn’t punished her in the mud at Goodwood, Inspiral and Signore Dettori were inspired to beat Big Rock a length and a quarter.

⭕ 2.50 Deauville (Prix Guillaume d’Ornano) I’ve saved up the Fortune Cookies list until later in the week, still ahead of York, but hoping to hear news of Auguste Rodin, and certain to know more about the Big Rock form in this race at Deauville today.

His French Derby conqueror, FORTUNE COOKIE Ace Impact, runs today as favourite for the Arc in most books but sure to be tested. Coolmore-Ballydoyle clout should see to that.

Ryan Moore rides Victoria Road, a 115-rated two-year-old after he stepped up through Listed, Group 3, Group/Grade 1 in the Breeders Cup Mile.

That included a short-neck defeat of Blue Rose Cen, who has won both French fillies Classics for FORTUNE COOKIES this season.

Aidan O’Brien also saddles the Greffulhe winner, Greenland, almost three lengths behind Big Rock in the Prix La Force at Longchamp in April.

Late starter this season, Al Riffa, Joseph O’Brien’s National Stakes winner as a juvenile, could yet be anything, distinctly ring rusty first run back in a Group 3 at the Curragh on the first day of last month.

WONDER LOOKS LEGENDARY

⭕ 6.45 Chelmsford Wonder Legend is taken to get back on the winning trail after a break since his run at Royal Ascot where he was a far from discredited eighth in the King George V Handicap despite meeting interference and losing a shoe.

He had previously won at Doncaster and on the all-weather at Wolverhampton in April and has run well after a break before.

This doesn’t look a particularly hot class 3.  The one horse I’m worried most about is Return To Dubai who is returning – from a 424 day break having missed the whole of last season. He comes back post-gelded and is probably capable of more than we have seen to date and there has been some early support on Betdaq Betting Exchange suggesting the absence won’t be an issue.

Crystal Delight is another returning from the gelding op – he has chances on his best form and is interesting now back on the all-weather but needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort at Sandown last time out when he lost many lengths with a sloppy start.

LANDING ON MAYFAIR

⭕ 7.15 Chelmsford Mayfair Gold can add to her impressive course and distance form figures which read 212.

The Alan King trained filly was no match for Totnes here last month but the winner followed up in good style when winning again at Chepstow next time out. Oisin Murphy rides her for the first time.

Moonspirit starts life in handicap company off a mark of 77 which looks high enough after her hard fought maiden success at Bath last time out where she took a stumble during the race.

I could see Silver Nightfall running into a place at bigger odds. She’s one of the more experienced fillies in the line up and has a 1221 record on the all-weather and is now trying the Chelmsford circuit for the first time.

NO DOUBTING DALTON

⭕ 9.00 Newcastle A typically trappy closing handicap at Newcastle over the minimum distance.

I thought Dalton Lane looked a little over-priced for this. Phillip Makin’s runner makes his handicap debut off a mark of 62 which looks fair enough considering his best run came over course and distance here on debut when he chased home Winter Crown. The winner is now racing off a mark of 79 – a stone plus change away from what Dalton Lane is racing off tonight.

Even if you don’t take that too literally it’s likely that Dalton Lane will find further improvement on just his fourth career start and has fared well in the draw department with box 14.

He was trading at around 11 mid-morning on BETDAQ so I will recommend a 3 point investment for a sporting Tuesday nap.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
