WERDER BREMEN V BAYERN MUNICH
7.30pm The Bundesliga returns this Friday on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE! We kick off the season with the Champions Bayern Munich traveling to take on Werder Bremen. Hopefully this season is as dramatic as the last with Bayern winning the title on the final day. You might say that was “business as usual” when you glance at the Bundesliga history, but as we all know Dortmund had the title in their hands heading into the final day!
We all saw the scenes from Dortmund as they blew it in front of their own fans. The yellow wall was superb given how things happened, but for Bayern they will be hoping to go back to winning the title as early as possible. It was actually a remarkable season considering Dortmund lost Erling Haaland to Manchester City last summer. I suppose the reality was that Bayern were well off the pace, had to change managers and then had drama in the dressing room too.
It would be a surprise if Bayern didn’t lift the title again this season, but hopefully Dortmund or RB Leipzig can give us a close title race again. It will be fascinating to see how the Harry Kane situation plays out – at the time of writing Spurs have accepted a €100 million offer but Kane has agreed personal terms. I have to say listening to the commentary on the situation in England has been very odd – Bayern is the best move for Kane for success. He’s going to win nothing at Spurs. It’s not even a question who is the bigger club and where he should go; he could even win a Champions League with Bayern, never mind the domestic title.
Onto the opening game of the season however, and Bayern Munich come into this game as the red-hot favourites. Bayern are trading as short as 1.3 at the time of writing, and it’s very hard to see past a pretty easy Bayern win. Werder Bremen were only three points off the bottom three last season, so they desperately need to improve on that. Clearly given their place in the table Werder Bremen were conceding more chances than they were creating, and they were very poor at home too.
Werder Bremen finished bottom of the home form table last season, only managed 17 points at home all season. They’ll have to improve on that as we all know how important home form is when you’re hanging around a relegation battle. I feel this is a case of how many goals can Bayern score rather than will they win, and we’ll have to look to the Handicap markets for some value. I couldn’t put anyone off including Bayern at 1.3 in their weekend Acca too! For my best bet here however I like Bayern to cover the 1.5 goal Handicap at 1.71. Werder Bremen were very average last season, and this should be light work for Bayern. They must be buzzing with the arrival of Harry Kane and they can start the season with a bang.
