SAVED THE BEST UNTIL LAST: No joy from the nap or next best at Navan last night but SHAMROCK’s only other bet of the day – a lay of odds-on Encrypted Message was successful when that one finishd second at 4/6.
It’s hard to look beyond David Wachman’s filly Royal Empress in the opener at Limerick this evening.
She made a pleasing debut when third to Nandiga at the Curragh on debut. The form of that race is mixed. The winner went on to run reasonably well in Listed company but the second, Delight, has been beaten a couple of times since. As regular readers will know, Delight is a horse I have successfully laid on a couple of occasions.
Private Alexander, who was fourth in that Curragh race, re-opposes today but I fully expect Royal Empress (who travelled well at the Curragh) to confirm the form and open her account.
Wachman will probably win the 5.55 with Probably (sorry had to be said !). He ran well on debut at the Curragh but there are a couple of decent looking debutants that make me want to swerve this contest.
In the 6.25 Danzerini looks rock solid, although the price reflects that. The Mick Halford trained runner ran an excellent race on debut at Fairyhouse and brings by far the best form into this race. If I can get anything around 1.4 it’s a major bet for me.
