DAQMAN’S SEVEN DAYS OF WINNERS: Daqman had two ‘winners’ in one race at Goodwood yesterday when his bet Thunder Ball (WON 7-1) was disqualified in favour of his saver, The Gatekeeper. It made no difference to his results sequence on the day (2111) but his profit of 29.75 was reduced to 11 points. His three strikes yesterday completes his target of a week of wins: 12 in seven days.

ANOTHER FORCE FOR FRANKEL
⭕ 3.35 Ripon (Champion 2-Y-O Trophy): Stalls 1 and 2 have shared seven winners in nine years! Two of them have been trained Richard Fahey, who has already won the Beverley 2YO Trophy this summer with Bombay Bazaar.
But he comes out of 6 here and was well behind at this level in a big-field Ascot Listed the last day.
Seven Questions, seeking a four-timer after a sequence in lower grades, has a difficult task to answer the question at this high level.
The well-beaten runner-up in a heat at Salisbury has since boosted easy winner that day Task Force. With that one in gate 3 and Matters Most in the one stall, Ralph Beckett has every chance of capturing this prize.
Matters Most has won two out of three in races separated by a tilt at the Listed National Stakes at Sandown, won by Elite Status, the Norfolk Stakes third who won a Group 3 at Deauville.
Shagraan (gate 2) and Asadna (out of 4) have already finished second and third in a Listed won by Action Point, who was fourth in the Gimcrack last week.
📈 BETDAQ value verdict: 2.6 Task Force is by Frankel out of a 1,000 Guineas winner and the strength of the field holds up his price: 2.6 offers this morning.
IRISH RIDER A LEADING LIGHT
⭕ 3.40 Epsom (Amateurs’ Derby): Only three outright favourites but no winners – not a one – above 5-1 SP in the decade and beyond.
None have carried more than 11st 6lb or been older than six, all of which rules out more outsiders.
The two six-year-olds are interesting: Captain Haddock won this race off 78 in 2021 under Henry Main. Hasn’t won since but was second off 68 in the Ladies’ Derby here in July.
The last time Tony Martin’s Belgoprince traveled over, he was 9th at Cheltenham in a novice handicap hurdle (November 2021). Back to form on the Flat in July at Tipperary (winner 1m 4f) and Killarney (2nd 1m 6f).
Four-year-olds do best, and another one over from Ireland is Liberated Light, who ran behind Belgoprince returning from a long absence but came back to form over 1m 6f under John Gleeson at Tipperary the last day.
John, who won an NH bumper at Killarney on Friday, is scoring on the Flat at 29%. The son of RTE broadcaster Brian Gleeson, first came to prominence as a 17-year-old when he won the Curragh Amateur Riders’ Derby of 2021.
Simon Walker is leading amateur, and Warhol is handy at Epsom without winning, placed twice there on soft and heavy. Depends whether the forecast showers further ease the surface.
Quite the opposite forecast is needed for a firm-ground winner at Pontefract, Citizen General, but ex-French Warning Sign enjoyed it soft at Newbury in July; it’s just that he’s never raced at today’s trip.

TINK SWERVED YORK WITH KAI
⭕ 4.10 Ripon (Ripon Rowels 1m handicap): William Haggas saddles Kathab, who broke his maiden on this track, and is favourite to land a hat-trick today and strike for the three-year-olds.
But, with the narrowing of the handicap at this time, second-season animals have failed to win this in the decade and he has a formidable opponent in BETDAQ 4.4 offer Isla Kai, who was withdrawn at York last week because of the firm ground.
Nigel ‘Tink’ Tinkler pencilled in the Ripon Rowels for this horse after he scored on soft here over the CD in April (Diamondonthehill 8th). He is now a pound lower and showers overnight have created good-to-soft areas on the track, with more expected.
Another Batt and Garden Oasis are both CD winners but age is catching up. Like Kathab, James McHenry is a three-year-old; might benefit from first-time blinkers but so far is firmly pegged into class 3.
