13.0 STRIKE IN THE BRONZE CUP: Daqman yesterday ventured win-50 bull’s-eye bets on the Ayr Bronze Cup, first leg of the track’s triple sprint sequence which has Silver and Gold today. He struck gold in the Bronze at huge offers on BETDAQ for his own winning sequence of four wins in five days. It followed winning nap No 79 on Thursday.

‘HIDDEN HORSES’ TODAY: Today Daqman finds ‘hidden horses’ in the Silver and Gold Cups at Ayr at 12.5 and 17.5.
CAIRN GORM THE ‘HIDDEN HORSE’
⭕ 2.25 (Ayr Silver Cup) They traveled down the centre of the track in yesterday’s Bronze, following the pace from gates 4 and 10 with the one-two out of 6 and 7. In fact 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 filled five of the first seven places.
As I forecast earlier in the week, Call Me Ginger misses Gold and takes top rank in the Silver, a similar handicap high which two winners have defied since 2013.
He ran at Doncaster just a week back after landing a double, but has taken three races together before, when the Bronze completed his hat-trick in 2021.
Last year at this time he was awarded the Portland (5.5f, Doncaster soft) in the Stewards’ room off 5lb lower than today.
Stall 20 today could be a snag. But Lucky Man, Bay Breeze and Never Dark are pace horses on his side of the track and other strong contenders are in that group: Call Me Ginger (20), Gulliver (22)
Lucky Man dwelt when fourth in the Gold last year, and a decent break should see him engage with this lower-level field but he is also in the high weight group.
Where Lucky Man is, Bergerac – sixth in the Gold last year – should be on form, but he’s never scored on softer ground and he is out of gate 23.
Gulliver, who returned to form the last day, is still well handicapped on his winning spree with 100+ in his heyday.
Danzan and Fast And Loose from the low draw should help Cairn Gorm (stall 2), for whom plans for this have long been laid for the one-time Group winner, with Jim Crowley to do a steering job.

SIGNIFICANTLY WELL IN FOR GOLD

As I forecast, the last two winners of this, Bielsa and Summerghand, clash today but something younger from a middle-to-high stall usually wins this main event of the Ayr triple.
Orazio’s wins this year were both on soft but they’ve hiked him 8lb. Rohaan could be the ‘hidden horse’: a stone lower than last year’s autumn form when he slammed Summerghand at level weights in a Group-3 at Ascot.
Significantly is also lower than last summer and that helped him to a dramatic late bid in the Portland a week ago, beaten a short-head
Montassib has had a fair season over 7f but does he have the pace for this furlong shorter, which he hasn’t played in for three years?
In the low numbers, Desert Cop (stall 9) is down in grade from Group and Listed races with a chance for Andrew Balding but a three-year-old has not won it this high in the handicap.

NEWBURY: NYMPHADORA FANCIED
⭕ 1.30 Newbury (World Trophy Stakes) Two of the last three winners of this 5f Group 3 have been three-year-olds from the top yards.
Victory for Thunderbear would be a huge boost for young Jack Davison’s County Meath set-up and the son of Kodi Bear has his ground for the first time since being gelded.
The class-4 Nottingham handicap winner on soft has finished close up in three Group-3 events (6f and 7f), including the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, but pushed along to go the pace, as if this drop to 5f is a tough ask.
Whereas in Thunderbear’s last three runs he has started 20-1 and 50-1 (twice), Sense Of Duty has been hot favourite or nearly so (biggest odds 15-8) every time she’s run, winning four out of five.
Raasel had to return to a handicap to score earlier this month on his 16th start since taking a Sandown Group 3 on firm last July.
Similarly, Nymphadora has done respectably at the highest level but found her niche in a Listed at York this July.
She looks the likeliest leader and loves a soft surface so might find out Sense Of Duty on trip and ground, not to mention his 455 days’ absence.
TAKE THE BIG HORSE IN THE MUD
⭕ 3.15 Newbury (Mill Reef Stakes) I warned in the week that this Group-2 for two-year-olds (6f) has lost its clout.
But there could be a decent winner on the day in Mister Sketch. If you go to Eve Johnson Houghton’s yard, they talk of him as ‘the big horse’ but he’s enjoyed cut in the ground. He’s been bought by the owners of Isaac Shelby and Gregory.
Array was receiving 3lb when beaten a length and a quarter over today’s CD by Starlust, so improved a bit when third in the Sirenia to the same colt, with Seven Questions in second. All of a heap, aren’t they.
Haatem has run well behind top juveniles River Tiber and City of Troy but flopped in the Gimcrack. That could have been the firm ground or a white flag after seven races in his first season.
⭕ 4.25 Newbury Hodler quickens off deep ground and I fancy Oisin Murphy can continue a day of huge potential with Nymphadora (1.30), Array (3.15) and this one principal among them.
This is the end of his day, as he’s lost his mount in the last: Mudskipper doesn’t run because of the heavy ground!
