West India v England 2nd T20
MATCH OVERVIEW:
West Indies and England are back in action on Betdaq Betting Exchange in the 2nd T20 on Thursday! Jos Buttler and England suffered more woes when the series started on Tuesday as West Indies got off to a 1-0 lead. Andre Russell was back in a West Indies shirt, and he blasted them to victory with 29 runs off 14 balls at the end. He also did a lot of work with the ball; he took three wickets for just 19 runs and was a clear Man Of The Match winner!
England look very short on confidence given the situation. The terrible World Cup campaign still seems to be hanging over them, even with a fresh young side. Their bowling just hasn’t been good enough though, and that’s the major worry. The middle-order also let them down – you couldn’t have asked for a better start really. England were 77/1 after 6.1 overs which is an electric start; to finish 171 all out from there is very disappointing. Even more disappointing was they were on 117/3 after Buttler got out after 10.5 overs – 171 from there is very poor!
West Indies have added to their squad for the T20 series, and they look much stronger. To be honest, England seem to be causing all their own issues at the moment – West Indies just have to try and do the basics right and they will get chances. The England bowlers haven’t been able to consistently put the West Indies under pressure.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The sides move to St George’s for the 2nd and 3rd T20’s. This is a pretty well known ground in West Indies, so England will know conditions well – England actually played the last Test match here in 2022. You might remember this ground after being damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. We actually haven’t had an International T20 here since 2021; I would go into the game with an open mind on scoring. To be honest, it feels like the bat will beat the ball in this series with a lot more talent in both batting line-ups compared to the bowling line-ups. For what it’s worth, the last three T20’s here had first inning scores of 168/4 (won), 167/6 (won) and 167/8 (won) – actually remarkable they were all within one run between South Africa and West Indies!
RECOMMENDED BET:
We landed our bet on West Indies in the 1st T20 from a value point of view, and I was surprised to see them trading at the same price when I clicked into the market. We have a pretty even market, but England are the favourites again and I’m happy to take the 2.1 again on West Indies. I see this being another 50/50 game really, but the England bowlers just haven’t come to the party often enough on this tour. There isn’t much in it, but I would have West Indies as the marginal favourites, especially with Andre Russell back and in form.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Although it’s been a while since we’ve had an International T20 here, it has paid to bat first. I would definitely keep that in mind when trying to work out batting conditions in the opening overs. I mentioned above that I feel the bat will dominate the ball in this series, so I wouldn’t really want to be on either bowling side – even with England’s middle order collapse in the 1st T20! A trade on the side that bats first seems the best option here.
