MATCH OVERVIEW:
The Big Bash is back in full flow on Betdaq Betting Exchange after Christmas, and Brisbane Heat clash with Sydney Thunder on Wednesday morning. Brisbane Heat have had an excellent start to the tournament this year, and they had a great Christmas sitting top of the table. Things are still very open at the top of the table however, and we’ve had a few abandoned games too. Sydney Thunder have lost two of their three games, and alarm bells might be starting to ring in their camp. Their sole win came against Melbourne Stars too who look like they will finish bottom of the table again.
The way the Big Bash schedule works, side can face each other quite quickly. Only on December 12th did we see this fixture and we are seeing it again quite quickly. Two of the four fixtures Sydney Thunder have played will have been Brisbane Heat after this fixture! The Heat won by 20 runs when the sides met in Canberra; they batted first to post a total of 151/7 and bowled the Thunder out for 131. Despite that score with the bat, Thunder have actually batted well twice since. They posted 200/7 against Adelaide Striker but failed to defend, and chased down 172 easily against Melbourne Stars.
The issue for the Thunder is their bowling. Their batting is strong, especially the openers and the middle order. However, their bowling is a major red flag. Brisbane Heat can target this, especially with their power packed hitting. They’ve already posted a score of 214/3, admittedly that came against Melbourne Stars but they batted very well against Melbourne Renegades too. An interesting game awaits.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We’re back at The Gabba, and we had a very high score here in the opening game. Brisbane Heat posted 214/3, but it has to be noted that came against the Melbourne Stars who are comfortably the worst team in the Big Bash this season. The Gabba has generally been a high scoring venue however in T20 cricket. The first inning scores here last season were; 166/9 (won), 224/5 (won), 155/6 (chased), 162/6 (won) and 188/4 (won). I think you have to bat first here and make best use of good batting conditions.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I was surprised to see Brisbane Heat trading 1.8 here. Their batting is in great touch, and they face a weak bowling attack here from the Thunder. However, I am not knocking the Thunder batting as I believe they have a very solid batting line-up, but I feel the difference here will be the bowling. We should have very good batting conditions for both sides, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Thunder bowlers go around the park. The Thunder batting makes me want to reduce stakes, but I’m still keen to take on the Thunder bowling.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
There’s a couple of areas to focus on here as highlighted above. I expect good batting conditions so I would expect a high scoring game; based on the results last season and the opening game this season I would give an edge to the side who bats first. That will offer a very nice trading option. The second thing I want to take on is the Thunder bowling; it just hasn’t looked good enough in this competition yet. In good batting conditions, they could go around the park again.
