LATCH IS OFF THE HOOK

⭕ 3.20 Fontwell The Sussex card got the green light following a morning inspection but the going will be heavy with further rain about.

I’ve scoured the card for mudlarks and think He’s A Latchico fits the bill here for local trainer Gary Moore.

Whilst it was good ground when he won over course and distance last May, he does have solid form on heavy including two starts ago at Sandown when runner-up to Classic Anthem – only tiring in the closing stages up the tough Esher hill.

This looks an easier assignment and he is taken to see off the challenge of chief Betdaq Betting Exchange rival Torneo who is another soft ground specialist who starts off life in handicap company off a mark of 109.

It’s never easy starting handicap races on the back of a 26 length win but this is the case with the Jamie Snowdon trained runner who made all to romp home at Wetherby despite a couple of errors along the way.

As impressive win no doubt but on the negative side the race did fall apart a bit and the handicap mark is tough enough.

MORE FOR MOORE

⭕ 4.55 Fontwell Gary Moore can strike again here – this time with Time To Dazzle who showed his best form to date on handicap debut at Uttoxeter (heavy ground too) when runner-up to Present Fair.

Caoilin Quinn is aboard today and the form represented a big improvement on his first three races – all at Newbury at a relatively higher class than this.

The handicapper has nudged him up a pound but I think he is remarkably well handicapped in any case given the handicapper has had very little to work on.

He looks the type that could run up a sequence for his in form trainer (now 6 winners from his last 25 runners) and gets the the Wednesday nap vote.

CHIPS ARE DOWN

⭕ 7.00 Kempton Another marathon nine race card at Kempton the highlight being this class 2 handicap.

Batai Dubai is solid at the top of the Betdaq market after stepping up in class to this level and shaping well at Newcastle last time out.

Batai Dubai is closely matched with Fivethousandtoone on that form but is half the price of that challenger which doesn’t really add up and I have to play the value line.

Chipstead might be a danger to both. The only course and distance winner in the field, he never ran his race over five furlongs at Lingfield last time out but will be better suited by this step up to six.
