SUNDAY PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews WOLVES v SHEFFIELD UNITED with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
WOLVES V SHEFFIELD UNITED
1.30pm Just the one Premier League fixture on Sunday with the Carabao Cup Final taking centre stage on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. It might not be the most glamorous clash between Wolves and Sheffield United, but it’s a nice lead into the big game between Liverpool and Chelsea at Wembley. Wolves will see this as a brilliant opportunity to notch up another three points – Sheffield United have comfortably been the worst side in the Premier League this season. The home win is trading odds on at 1.52 with Sheffield United 7.3 and the draw is 4.8 at the time of writing.
Wolves comfortably sit in mid-table, but they have been one of the most over-performing sides in the Premier League this season. Their average xG created is 1.18 but their actual goals scored is 1.56 which is what has them sitting in mid-table with the same amount of points as Chelsea. In fairness, Wolves were talked about as outsiders for a relegation battle this season so they’d have to be very happy with their season. You have to give them credit for grinding out so many results. I would still be concerned that they aren’t creating that much though; eventually they’ll stop scoring from awkward angles – that’s just probability.
As I said above, Sheffield United have comfortably been the worst side in the Premier League. Their average xG created is the worst attacking figure, and their average xG conceded is the worst defensive figure. Where and what do you do with that? They have issues all over the pitch, a change in manager hasn’t helped and they still sit bottom of the table. They did record a recent win over Luton Town, but to be honest all that did was put a massive dent in the chances of Luton Town staying up rather than Sheffield United getting back into the mix.
We wouldn’t usually see Wolves trading as short as 1.52, and they aren’t usually a side to back at odds on either. However, it’s hard to support Sheffield United in any form at the moment. Their overall performance figure is -1.06 which is the worst figure from all of the elite leagues in Europe, not just the Premier League. That’s the exceptionally low level Sheffield United have been playing at, they’ve just been totally outclassed at this level. They have only managed five points away from home all season; it was two before that win against Luton Town recently as well.
In that win, they only had 26% possession and conceding a higher xG figure than they created too. The score line was 3-1, but they could have easily lost the game. I’m going to keep stakes in check here because obviously Wolves have had their issues at times this season, but with home advantage they should get the job done and the 1.52 is worth backing.
The Striker Says:
Two points win Wolves to beat Sheffield United at 1.52 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
