PREVIEW
England went into this five match series with their old rivals knowing that a series whitewash would propel them to the top of the One Day International standings. That would officially mean England are the best cricket country in the world as they will top the rankings for all three forms of the game.

Unfortunately the Three Lions were denied the chance of a 5-0 win by a washout at Edgbaston in the third ODI last week but they returned to winning ways on Saturday as they cruised to an eight wicket win in the fourth match at Chester-le-Street. It was a record ninth consecutive win in 50-over cricket for Andy Flower’s men and they will be full of confidence heading to Old Trafford, where they are unbeaten in their last three ODI’s.

Steven Finn was the pick of the bowlers last time out when he finished with 4 for 37, which was made even more impressive as he twice grabbed two wickets in consecutive deliveries. With the bat Alastair Cook and Ian Bell continue to form an impressive opening partnership to help the innings off to a solid start. The former is averaging 72.28 since his return to the ODI side and is thriving in Kevin Pietersen’s absence.

Australia have had a torrid time on this tour and their best chance of avoiding a 4-0 series defeat is the weather. The British Summer certainly looks as if it will play a part, but England are still worth backing at around 1.75 on BETDAQ to finish off the tourists in style.
