MATCH OVERVIEW:
A new week begins from the IPL on Betdaq Betting Exchange with Mumbai Indians taking on Rajasthan Royals! It’s still very, very early in the tournament but we’re nearly at the stage where Mumbai Indians need a win having lost their opening two games. Their net run rate is poor which is always a factor in the race for the players later on, and they just need something to get momentum and their confidence going. They face a very tough test here though; Rajasthan Royals have won their opening two games and they are ticking a lot of boxes at the moment. They look strong in every department.
Rajasthan have posted 193/4 and 185/5 with their star man Jos Buttler only getting 11 runs twice. They actually got off to a terrible start against Delhi Capitals; they were 36/3 when Buttler got out after 7.2 overs which is a shocking position really. Once again though the middle order came good – early in the tournament you’d probably say that they have the best middle order at the moment. You wouldn’t say the same about Mumbai Indians though; they had the game in their hands against Gujarat Titans until a middle order collapse, and then of course we had that crazy game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Mumbai bowlers conceded a record 277/3!
Mumbai gave it a good go chasing, and although they now have the record of conceding the most runs, the fact that all their batters got time in the middle and scored runs is a positive going forward. This game is perfectly set up really; Mumbai have home advantage but they are under pressure. Both sides are packed with talent, and we should have a cracking game.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This is the first game of the season at the Wankhede in Mumbai, but we know conditions very well. Even when the IPL went through their Covid19 period, they kept the game mostly to Mumbai and this was one of the major grounds. We can get a spinning wicket when the wicket looks very red and used, but most times it’s a very good batting track and we can see some very big scores. The scores here last season were very high, in order of games played they were 157/8 (chased), 185/6 (chased), 214/8 (won), 212/7 (chased), 199/6 (chased), 218/5 (won) and 200/5 (chased). I think you have to bowl first here.
RECOMMENDED BET:
We should have very good batting conditions, and the Mumbai bowlers have looked worth being against so far. Rajasthan have an excellent batting line-up, and their middle order is in excellent form too – their openers can go massive too. We haven’t even saw the best from Buttler yet. I was surprised to see Mumbai trading as short as 1.87 when I clicked into the market – at best I’d have this as a 50/50 game but I wouldn’t argue with Rajasthan being the slight favourites either. From a value point of view I’m very happy to be on Rajasthan here at the odds.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With this being the first game here, I would take a bit of time to see what conditions are like. Generally we can get very high scoring conditions, and if that was the case it’s going to pay to support the batting side in both innings. Even in the really high scoring games here last season, the chasing side either won or went very close. I wouldn’t stay on either bowling side for long! Chasing looks to be an edge here too, and you wouldn’t be surprised to see 200 chased down. The Mumbai bowlers have been poor thus far, and they could go around the park again.
