Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Lucknow Super Giants

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The IPL is back in Bengaluru on Tuesday afternoon on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Royal Challengers Bengaluru host the Lucknow Super Giants. This will be the third straight home game for RCB, and they’ve had mixed fortunes thus far. This is the highest scoring venue in the IPL over the years, and we always tend to have an entertaining game. Unfortunately for RCB, their batting flopped, which is strange to say when you score 182/6, here against KKR and now they are really on the backfoot net run rate wise. KKR only needed 16.5 overs to chase it down – he average run rate here over the last five years is 9.4 so 180ish was short of par.

Whoever bets first here will have to aim higher; obviously you can have a huge debate on the Kohli knock against KKR. A strike rate at 140 is impressive, but is it high enough at this ground when you bat through? 50% of cricket fans will say the rest of the side let him down and 50% will say that strike rate needs to be higher given conditions. For Lucknow Super Giants have won once from two games, and they have both been two high scoring games too. The two openers have yet to fire together, but their main problem seems to be at three and four because they are losing wickets quickly.

If they can sort that out, they’ll get a lot of improvement and the rest of the middle order won’t be under as much pressure. I’d worry about the Lucknow bowling line-up, but the reality is every bowling line-up is a worry in the batting conditions here!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We should have another high scoring game here. To be honest, we have yet to see par scored here in the opening two games. The first inning scores have been 176/6 and 182/6 – both chased down. Judging by how quickly KKR chased last Friday I would suggest you’d want 200+ batting first. I know you have run rate pressure chasing, but given how “easy” it is here to hit sixes, I would definitely bowl first. We’ve yet to see a team fire batting first so it’s a pretty easy decision to chase.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Once again it’s been a mixed bag from RCB so far; that is basically them in a nutshell though. They have batting stars but their bowling is lacking once again. I am worried about the Lucknow three/four but other than that you’d have to be happy with the rest of their batting. They have two of the best openers in the tournament, if they put it together they can go massive here. RCB are the favourites and I don’t agree with that; I feel the value play is Lucknow at 2.18. I definitely wouldn’t have such a big gap between the sides – I know Lucknow have their flaws but so do RCB! There’s a strong case for making this a 50/50 game.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

It makes sense to always support the batting side in the Chinnaswamy – it’s just that sort of ground. Runs flow here, and we always tend to see sixes. It has looked easier to chase, so it’s definitely an angle to get on the chasing side at the innings break here. Having watched the opening two games here though, the market might not respect a score of 180ish though – which is fair enough because that looks short of par. I’d be keen to take on both sets of bowlers here; the batters should win the day.
