TIPPING WARRIOR SETS HIS TARGETS: Daqman continued his winner-a-day sequence for a fifth day with Sardinian Warrior (WON 7-4) at Southwell yesterday, and today targets seven days of big races. See: Week-Long Bonanza.

TODAY: Daqman stays at Southwell for his nap of the day in the 2.00 with remaining bets from Windsor and Wolverhampton.

HAATEM JOINS BATTLE OF TROY

TROY attack. Richard Hannon will run two stable stars in Saturday’s 2,000 Guineas.

The Lagardere winner Rosallion, second favourite at Newmarket to City of Troy, will now be joined by Hannon’s Craven Stakes winner, Haatem.

The Tattersalls Gold Cup or the Prix d’Ispahan are the options for Joseph O’Brien’s Al Riffa, who ran fourth in a blanket finish for yesterday’s Prix Ganay at Longchamp.

O’Brien won the Prix Allez France with American Sonja, but the one to take out of the race was Daqman’s tip, the Camelot filly Pensee Du Jour, who ran from the back in the final stages to finish a close second. Andre Fabre has Royal Ascot in mind.

CLOUD IS CLEARING AWAY

⭕ 2.00 Southwell At face value a 12lb hike for Cloud King looks harsh after his easy course and distance win last time out but there is every chance the handicapper was over lenient ahead of his first start in handicap company.

And that’s not to blame the handicapper. He couldn’t do much else faced with three down the field runs at Goodwood, Bath and Yarmouth but punters clearly thought he was well in ahead of his March run here for which he was sent off the 4/6 fav.

For a five furlong event he found a fair degree of trouble too, repeatedly finding himself short of room but still had three and a half lengths in hand at the line.

Be Here Now makes the Betdaq Betting Exchange market for us here as he is a hat-trick seeker who is heading up the weights – despite only winning narrowly. A head win at Newcastle was followed up with a neck success over course and distance last time out but now has a further 3lb to contend with.

HATS OFF FOR HANNON

⭕ 7.39 Windsor Richard Hannon has made a strong start to the new season and has bigger fish to fry this week (see above). He can start the week well here with Hatadora who was beaten a short head over course and distance last week and is now a pound lower.

Handicapping is a funny game. If she had won that race by a short head instead of finishing second she might have been put up 3lb !! So we might be looking at a (near as damn it) winner not only without a penalty but down in the weights !

Sneaky Blinder continues to run well for Tom Ward and he might be the danger on only his second start on turf.

GASTRONOMY LOOKS TASTY

⭕ 8.00 Wolverhampton A couple of non runners have reduced this 1m 6f handicap to just a quartet.

Likely favourite is Surrey Belle who looks progressive over this trip but needed the start on her only previous start after a break.

A value alternative could be Gastronomy who was running on well when winning over 1m 4f at Newcastle last time out and is worth another try over this trip on the all-weather.

Fox Flame (consistent and winner at Chelmsford last time out) and Lawmans Blis (two from two here this year) will both have their supporters making it a good betting heat – despite the small field.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
