THE NAP IS BACK ON TRACK: Tip the bottle! After a quiet spell, Daqman’s nap is back on track with a 50% strike rate in the last few days:

WON 5-4 SHE’S GOT BOTTLE (Monday nap)
WON 2-1 PHOENIX PASSION (Friday nap)

10 DAYS OF CLASSIC TRIALS: Have we seen the Derby and Oaks winner in the Guineas? Most punters doubt it, as they wrestle with the unexpected results. From today, Daqman will help them sieve 10 days of trials to come up with an answer. See: A Star Is Born.

DAQMAN SAID: A STAR IS BORN

⭕ 3.05 Chester, tomorrow (Cheshire Oaks) It seems like only yesterday (2017, in fact) that Daqman virtually alone hailed the Cheshire Oaks winner as a future star and stuck with her for four seasons from an English and Irish Oaks double to an Arc de Triomphe.

Enable won 15 of her 19 starts and earned £10,724,320, and was the beginning of a successful series of winners in BETDAQ Tips called Fortune Cookies.

Says Daqman: ‘I reprised Frankie Dettori’s ride in the Cheshire Oaks, and each time he asked Enable with the slightest touch, she responded up the straight with his foot still only resting gently on the accelerator.’

*Winning trainers (20 years): Aidan O’Brien (8), John Gosden (3).

⭕ 3.40 Chester, tomorrow (Chester Vase) If you think City Of Troy was a flop, try US Army Ranger, who won this in 2016 at 11-4 ON, starting favourite for his next three starts but never won another race, though trained by a certain Aidan O’Brien.

You have to go back to Shergar (1981) for the glory days of the Vase but there have been some recent ‘finds.’

The last Derby winner to come out of the race was Wings Of Eagles, the 2017 runner-up.

*Winning trainers (20 years): Aidan O’Brien (10), Sir Michael Stoute (2).

⭕ 3.05 Chester, Thursday (Dee Stakes) The winner is often well backed for Epsom but the last Dee Stakes star to land the Derby was Kris Kin (2003) for Sir Michael Stoute.

*Winning trainers (20 years): Aidan O’Brien (9), Sir Michael Stoute (2).

⭕ 2.25 Lingfield, Saturday (Oaks Trial) Midday (2009) was probably the last star winner of this race, and a tear-jerker towards the end of Henry Cecil’s career.

*Winning trainers (20 years): John Gosden (4), Ralph Beckett (3), Aidan O’Brien (2)

⭕ 3.00 Lingfield, Saturday (Derby Trial) The road to Epsom glory for Slip Anchor (1985), Kahyasi (1988), High-Rise (1998) and Anthony Van Dyck (2019).

*Winning trainers (20 years): Aidan O’Brien (6), Charlie Appleby, Andre Fabre, John Gosden, Richard Hannon, Mark Johnston, Saeed Bin Suroor, Sir Michael Stoute, Marcus Tregoning, Roger Varian, Ed Walker.

THE HAT-TRICK HILL?

⭕ 5.05 Ffos Las Flat racing at Navan today but in the GB it’s GB standing for Gone Back to jumps with cards from Fakenham, Ffos Las, Southwell and Hereford. Answers on a postcard?

It’s testing ground at Ffos Las (is it ever any different?) but that should suit the hat-trick seeking Bullets Hill who comes into this on the back of wins at Exeter and over course, distance but hurdles here last time out.

I see no reason why the progress can’t continue over fences as he jumps well and is likely to dominate from the front as he has done recently over the smaller obstacles.

PLAY THE RIVER CARD

⭕ 7.12 Southwell This is not likely to take much winning and with question marks over the front three in the market I thought Orbys River appealed at double figure odds on Betdaq.

Her latest effort at Uttoxeter when runner-up was much improved and co-incidentally Bullets Hill, my first tip of the day, finished third in that race.

As I said the top three don’t leap off the page.

Therapist represents Nicky Henderson but her jumps form to date hasn’t matched her flat ability.

Jumping Jupiter pulled up here when last seen 111 days ago and Platenium makes his handicap debut and is down in class but the Ben Pauling yard are just running a little cold.

MORE FROM COOLEENY

⭕ 7.30 Hereford I thought the best bet of the day was Cooleenymorein this three mile handicap hurdle.

The Robert Walford trained mare was sent off favourite for her latest race at Exeter (on similar ground) but was no match for the Paul Nicholls trained Kick Up A Storm who won in good style.

Reflecting on the race though, it was still a good effort in form terms and that wasn’t lost on the handicapper who has raised Cooleenymorein by 4lb.

I think she can still be effective on this mark with the biggest positive today being her recent consistency in a field of mainly out of form rivals.

Her biggest rival on the Betdaq Betting Exchange is Minniemum who hasn’t been seen since pulling up at Southwell (and going off favourite) in February and before that she unseated her rider – so is hardly the most reliable of conveyances.

A bigger danger may come from Chatshow Host, although the current form of trainer Donald McCain (0 from 24) tempers enthusiasm to include her as a bet today.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
