FAIRY-TALE 13 WINS IN NINE DAYS: Daqman’s fairy-tale sequence continued yesterday with another winner and another profit on the day, thanks to his staking plan. It was win number 13 in nine days without a blank day.

O’BRIEN STARS NOT BACKABLE
YES, I quit my ride on the Ballydoyle roundabout. For those of you wondering why the O’Brien aces are not in my Fortune Cookies pack, I felt that we needed a new deal.
The result is that we have had winners at better than 3-1 twice and one at 5-2, with the odd one out, 1-4 City of Troy.
As expected, he now goes for the Juddmonte International at York and, after his workmanlike win in the Eclipse, should not be that sort of price on the Knavesmire over that sort of trip.
But he surely will be short, not for any superlative form but on the Ballydoyle ballyhoo (‘best I’ve ever trained’), though he really needs to prove it; not with my money on his back.
The same goes for Auguste Rodin in the King George. Since his Derby double last season, we have had three big flops, two of them this year before he went to Ascot on 123 and beat a 33-1 shot racing off 116 by threeparts of a length.
They are already betting against O’Brien – in fact, against England and Ireland all – with France boasting the kingpins, Look De Vega and Sosie, for the Arc de Triomphe.
I can keep both in my Cookies list, with both set for simple trials while our main contenders for the ultimate crown at Longchamp have to do the heavy lifting at York and Ascot to prove themselves before they can have a break.
Both French stars are sure to be backable because punters on this side of the water will bet against them on the day, as ever.
THE BOBBY DAZZLER
⭕ 3.22 Thirsk A fascinating clash between two wide margin winners last time out who should fight this out given their respective penalties cancel each other out.
Germanic was getting the nod in the morning Betdaq Betting Exchange market – heading the betting after his effortless 11 length win at Newcastle last time out when he was well backed to improve on his down the field Newbury debut.
I watched that race live and remember thinking how impressive visually he was but it came in what looked a weak contest on the all-weather and he now has to show his improved form on the turf too.
In pure form terms I prefer the chances of Bobby Bennu who was a facile winner himself – strolling home to win a class 3 at Chester by seven lengths last time out. He’s down two levels in grade for this and again has the considerable assistance of Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle.
It’s a tough call but I rate his form better and will play the nap card accordingly.
SAKTI’S ROCK SOLID FORM
⭕ 6.20 Killarney (Cairn Rouge Stakes Listed) A better day two card at Killarney where this fillies and mares contest over a mile is the feature.
This should be well within reach for the Ger Lyons trained Sakti who had rock solid form as a two-year old, finishing second in all three starts including a Group 2 and Group 3 and then only had to be pushed out to land the odds in a Dundalk maiden back in March.
She holds an entry in the Group 1 Matron Stakes later in the season at Leopardstown and with the Lyons stable in such good form should surely take a stepping stone to that via this Listed event. At bigger odds than I was expecting I will go for a WIN 20 return on BETDAQ.
The Aidan O’Brien trained Greenfinch is a little more exposed but still rates as the danger. She was a close up third in a similar race at Naas last time out but the drop back in trip here doesn’t look an immediate positive.
TWO IN THE NIGHTCAP
⭕ 9.00 Ffos Las Newmarket handler John Berry can land this with Turbat Ness who was a course and distance winner here last year and again gets some cut in the ground.
He arrives here in good form and the handicapper has been kind by not pushing him up for a string of placed efforts.
That can’t be said for chief rival Easy Equation who is up again in the weights after his Pontefract second last time out. I will include him given Charlie Felllowes (6 winners from last 18) could probably get a good run from the stable cat here!
