🏆 Final: Oval Invincibles v Southern Brave

MATCH OVERVIEW:

After a month of drama, it’s Final time at the Hundred on Betdaq Betting Exchange! Oval Invincibles topped the table so they got to put their feet up on Saturday evening and watch Birmingham Phoenix do battle with Southern Brave. It looked like Birmingham Phoenix had one foot in the Final after they held Southern Brave to 126/7 at the innings break but the market wasn’t fully sure given the low scores this season. Birmingham Phoenix ranged between 1.38 and 1.4 at the innings break, but we saw remarkable drama with the game finishing a tie – then Southern Brave came through the Super Over!

We have two excellent sides here, but obviously we have had a lot of batting collapses at the Hundred this season. Lord’s has been low scoring this season too, so we’re bound to have more drama here! Oval Invincibles were probably the most consistent team with the bat in the tournament, and their bowling has been top notch too. Southern Brave have definitely rode their luck to get here; obviously the drama on Saturday evening but then without the rain against Welsh Fire they would have lost that game given the position they were in!

We should have an excellent final. While Oval Invincibles haven’t got a big worldwide star name, they do have a very good batting line-up domestically, and that suits in this tournament given the clashes. Southern Brave are the same outside of Kieron Pollard. James Vince has been there right the way through with the franchise, and they have really improved their bowling this season with Jofra Archer. A fascinating game awaits!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

With such a quick turnaround between the Eliminator and the Final, the Hundred have no choice really but to host the two games in London. We’re in Lord’s for the Final, and the scores haven’t been good here this season. The first inning scores have been; 127/7 (chased), 94/9 (chased), 147/5 (won) and 135/5 (won). Obviously this is the home of London Spirit and they have been very poor with the bat, however they only batted first once here. It’s hard to expect a big score here – we saw a reasonably low score on Saturday too. The scores have been low in general at the Hundred – the players have blamed the logo on the ball and the “tired” (in their view) wickets.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s no surprise to see such an even market. Oval Invincibles are marginal favourites at 1.94 and that’s fair enough given they have been a little more consistent. Southern Brave will take a lot of confidence from what happened last night, but their batting hasn’t been great towards the end of the tournament. I feel both sides are very similar in the bowling department, and what could easily be another low scoring game I feel Oval Invincibles will have the edge with the bat. They are worth a small bet at 1.94.

The Edge Says:
One point win Oval Invincibles to beat Southern Brave at 1.94 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

With scores being so low here this summer and in general throughout the tournament, you really want to be bowling first here if you win the toss. We have two very good sides here – and their bowling line-ups have gone very well too. I’d happily support either bowling side in the first innings, and then make a decision at the innings break whether to let the position run or trade out. Lord’s is a massive outfield and they don’t bring in the ropes for white ball cricket either, so we could easily see another low score here. With Southern Brave’s batting failing a few times recently, backing Oval Invincibles if they bowl first will offer the best in-running trade in my opinion.
