WON 6-4 STROLL ON BY (Daqman Sunday nap)

GOODIE WILL GET THE PACE

⭕ 6.00 Fairyhouse (Stanerra Stakes) Aidan O’Brien has won this five times in the decade but I remember Roger Varian beating a Ballydoyle second-season favourite in 2021 with a four-year-old raider carrying 10st, giving away 17lb.

William Haggas attempts the same with the handicapper Santorini Star, O’Brien again having the three-year-old defender, Island Hopping, getting 13lb.

Island Hopping has aimed high but has won only her maiden. Blinkers first time only served to let her loose at Royal Ascot, seemingly trying to make all in the Ribblesdale (1m 4f) but beaten 17 lengths and more.

It helped a stablemate get the pace to win the race but if, as they do, Ballydoyle insists that each horse runs on its merits, there’s no evidence she merits victory today.

See how she runs but one man who would be Hopping glad of more front-running by the blinkered mare is Joseph O’Brien.

His Goodie Two Shoes is 5-9 on the Flat and her back-to-back Listed strikes in May came when she stepped up to 1m 6f then 2m.

Enfranchisement has run four times placed from 1m 2f+ to 2m, while Royal Entry wins races despite her awkward head carriage.

Alongside Royal Entry in the ratings is one who would welcome any rain, Lemsairbat. That’s Joseph O’Brien covering all eventualities.

I’M SO KEANE ON SKIMMER

⭕ 6.50 Kempton A class-2 novice stakes for three-year-olds with 13 runners, bound to be unlucky for some.

Colin Keane’s luck is already out with a whip ban from July 22 which means he misses the King George and the whole of the Goodwood meeting.

Keane will be keener still to make every ride a winner for Juddmonte (23% strike rate) and I want to be on Skimmer, half-brother to a St Leger winner.

He’s the sole scorer in this race but another ‘club’ for winners, Wathnan, tries to break their current sequence of 12 losers with a brother to an Irish Oaks winner, Sea Of Kings, well backed on both starts placed.

MARQUAND MOLTEN POINT

⭕ 7.20 Kempton While William Haggas has booked Chris Hayes for Santorini Star at Fairyhouse, he has Tom Marquand on Molten Sea in this two-mile handicap.

The trainer goes to war with his last six form figures: 112111 (including 2-2 for Marquand).

Molten Sea herself hasn’t done so badly, climbing 11lb in steady progress from class 6 last September to a duel at Chester at today’s class-4 level when she just failed to hold on, so 1021012.

Star Legend’s Spring hat-trick on the Flat (this is a grade higher) has been followed by two thirds over hurdles

Kingdom Of Stars hasn’t won a race but threatens to, including here, and again Colin Keane’s exprtise can help.

Comte De Loir was a CD winner at the start of the year, going well, race by race, since stepped up to 2m.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
