England v India 3rd Test
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We move onto the 3rd Test between England and India on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! This has been a superb Test series thus far, and we’re locked at 1-1 after two games. Both sides have been playing some superb cricket – England posted a statement chase in the 1st Test; quickly chasing down a big score. However, talking about statement wins – what about that bounce back from India at Edgbaston. They dominated the game, and the England batting had no answers with India winning by 336 runs. Those two games have perfectly set up the 3rd Test now, which comes up very quickly.
We had a large gap between the 1st and the 2nd Test, now we effectively have back-to-back Tests with this game starting on Thursday. The ebbs-and-flow of a Test series in England are always fascinating, and you’d have to say the situation now benefits India after such a big win. They have all the momentum coming to the home of cricket at Lord’s, and England’s batting must do better. The big difference at Edgbaston was the new ball bowling from India, which is a huge positive considering they went into that Test without Jasprit Bumrah. India took 16 wickets with the new ball, and that is some serious damage. One wonders can they repeat the feat under blue skies at Lord’s.
While it’s easy to have a pop at England’s batting after it was so good in the 1st Test, the big issue in my opinion was the bowling. England conceded 587 in the 1st innings, and then India declared on 427/6. They conceded 471 and 364 in the 1st test too, two big scores as well. With blue skies forecast, India could pile on the runs again if England don’t find the answers with the ball. Another fascinating Test match ahead!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Lord’s is the perfect place for this Test with the way the series is set-up. We’ve had two fantastic Test matches, and this one should be a cracker too. Usually at Lord’s the general thing is to look up and not down – make your decisions off that! You want to bat when the sun is out, and bowl when it’s cloudy. With sun and blue skies forecast for pretty much the whole Test, you’d want to be batting first here. It’s going to be very hot in London, so we might actually see the wicket spin come late into the Test. Lord’s has become a result venue recently – the last eight Tests have had a result.
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s interesting to see the change in odds after the 2nd Test. The market now rates India after that performance – we got 3.0+ on India in the 1st Test! England are out to odds against at 2.08, but I feel India offer value here at 2.54. As I said above, the back-to-back situation here really suits them given they have all the momentum. The draw is trading in the single figures at 7.8, and that could easily be a factor given it’s going to be a good Test for the batters – however with the way these sides play, especially England, it is hard to see a draw when there will be no time lost. England’s bowling is the worry here, and for me India are a confident bet at 2.54.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
As I said above, at Lord’s the general thing is to look up and not down. With blue skies forecast, you want to bat. To be honest, I’d be happy to support both sides here with the bat given the likely conditions. I think we’ll see a pretty big score in the first innings of the game. However, where we’ll see most market movement is when India bat – the England bowlers have been out on their feet and another Test quickly in tough conditions for bowlers will really give India the edge. I can see them piling on the runs here; I’d be looking to lay England when India bat, if that turns out to be the first or second innings. Also, with the high temperature forecast, keep an eye out for late spin if they game goes five days.
