England v India 4th Test
MATCH OVERVIEW:
England and India move to Manchester for the 4th Test on Betdaq Betting Exchange! This series has been superb viewing, and England lead the way after a hard fought win at Lord’s in the 3rd Test. We had some huge needle in that Test, and as we all know in sport, needle between the teams/players makes everything better. Sport is simply not as good when everyone is friendly. India would have been bitterly disappointed not to chase the 193 in the final innings, but the wicket was doing a lot. After all the drama with the Indian players towards Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett – England were immensely fired up for that final innings. Ben Stokes has his side in a good place.
There’s a lot at stake in Manchester now. Obviously every Test has been massive, but England can wrap up the series here with a win – for India they need a win to keep the series alive and put the heat on England heading into that final Test. It was a shame to see England docked points in the World Test Championship for slow play and India not getting any docked points – I’m not sure how the ICC came up with that up. It might serve as another thing to fire this England side up. Perhaps the 3rd Test was the break-through for this England bowling line-up; they certainly went into that Test with question marks considering how much India dominated the bowlers in the 2nd Test.
The reality here is that there’s very little between the two sides. All it takes is one innings or wonderful spell from a bowler to give either side the edge. Ben Stokes was absolutely incredible as a leader in the 3rd Test. With Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket now, Shubman Gill must consider how he wants his Indian side to present themselves. In this situation, they must fight fire-with-fire. Another wonderful Test awaits.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Cue jokes about the Manchester weather up north. There is rain forecast right throughout this Test; however the amounts look quite small at the moment – I know we have a few days to the start of the Test as I write this, but with 20 degrees forecast and small amounts of rain, I don’t think the rain should have a massive impact on the Test. As always, this will be a Test for watching the radar very closely. Like most grounds in England recently, Old Trafford has turned into a result venue. Only one draw in the last ten Test matches – if you go back further it’s two draws in 15. Both of those draws were Ashes Tests for anyone wondering; I’d be surprised if we got a draw the way these sides are playing.
RECOMMENDED BET:
The draw is going to be a factor in the market here; obviously the pre-off price will change a lot as we bounce around based on the forecast but it’s trading 3.75 at the moment. For me, looking at the current forecast that looks very short – as I said above I don’t think we’ll get large amounts of rainfall, but obviously that is open to change. With the draw short, that’s offering some value in the market in my opinion. England are 2.14 and India are 3.7. I really don’t think there’s that much between the sides, and given how easily India won in the 2nd Test and the fact that they traded very short to win the 3rd Test, from an outright bet point of view I’m very happy with the 3.7 on India. There’s going to be plenty of twists and turns in this one and the 3.7 is the value option.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
As I said above, it’s hard not to expert plenty of twists and turns between these two sides, especially with the attacking way they play cricket. The best trading advice here will be to not get married to a position too early in the Test. Obviously with the weather forecast too, there will be a lot of radar watching and what trading opportunities will come from that. My opinion is that we get enough time to get a result, but you wouldn’t be surprised to lose a session or two and the draw offer a nice trade at some point.
