PREMIER LEAGUE FRIDAY: The Striker previews the start of the new Premier League season as Liverpool host Bournemouth for Friday Night Football with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
LIVERPOOL V BOURNEMOUTH
8pm The 2025/26 Premier League season arrives on Betdaq Betting Exchange with Friday Night Football! Although we had the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, it’s been a long wait for some football fans for competitive football to return. For some, the FIFA Club World Cup didn’t cut it – it wasn’t like a Euro or World Cup summer that’s for sure! We kick off the new season with the Champions Liverpool hosting Bournemouth, and despite losing in the Community Shield at the weekend on penalties, Arne Slot’s men will be fully expected to get off to a winning start here.
Liverpool were undoubtedly the best side in the Premier League last season, they finished the season with the best attacking figure and were able to put their feet up for the run-in with the job already done. It’s no surprise to see them come into this game as the red-hot favourites given the gulf in class between the sides, but Bournemouth were very entertaining to watch last season and they actually finished with the fifth best attacking figure. Only Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal created more than Bournemouth last season which you have to say is impressive. They just need to tidy up at the back now, and they could possibly challenge for a Europa Conference League spot.
Liverpool are trading 1.32 with Bournemouth 10.5 and the draw is 6.4 at the time of writing. This Liverpool squad have been through a lot this summer with the passing of Diogo Jota in a car accident. That was horrible news for everyone around the club, and Arne Slot said some incredible words about the players just following their feelings. The positive news is the arrival of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, with the club breaking it’s transfer record. He looked good in the Community Shield, but obviously the jury will be out in the early games coming from the Bundesliga.
It’s hard to see past a Liverpool win here with home advantage, however the 1.32 doesn’t make much appeal given how much Bournemouth created last season. That being said, Liverpool have usually put Bournemouth to the sword – they won 3-0 and 2-0 when the sides met last season. They also won the three times the sides met the season previous, including a 4-0 win. For all that Bournemouth are entertaining, it seems they struggle to score goals against Liverpool!
It’s a shrewd play to keep stakes limited at the early part of the season – I’m keen to keep stakes small on every game over the coming weekend and see how sides line-up and performance. Obviously here it is a worry that Bournemouth haven’t managed to bag many goals against Liverpool recently, but the game against Crystal Palace at the weekend was very entertaining and I can see a pretty open game again here. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.43 and Both Teams To Score is 1.76. I couldn’t put anyone off either bet, but I marginally prefer the Overs option given the amount of goals Liverpool have put past Bournemouth recently.
