ENGLAND V SOUTH AFRICA: The Edge previews the 2nd T20 between England and South Africa from Manchester with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
England and South Africa are back in action on Betdaq Betting Exchange as the sides move to Manchester for the 2nd T20 on Friday night! South Africa took a 1-0 lead in Cardiff on Wednesday in a heavily rain effected game; they managed 97/5 off 7.5 overs before England were allowed a five over bash at 69 runs but came up short. England opted to rest Jofra Archer, with Eoin Morgan quoted as saying he “wouldn’t let his horse run around in those conditions!” It had rained basically all day at Cardiff, and England took the safe option with their star bowler.
Despite the weather and players rested, it was yet another loss for England. South Africa have now won three of the four games; the only loss coming when the ODI series was decided too. England need something good to happen, and thankfully the weather looks a bit better in Manchester. However, South Africa have looked the part in this series – I’m actually surprised to see the odds haven’t moved much pretty much the whole series. Archer back will clearly help England, but once again it’s due to rain during Friday before the game in Manchester so will the leadership group risk him on a wet outfield?
From a South African point of view, they have ticked all their boxes nicely on this tour. I said in my preview of the 1st T20 – they’ve won their last two ODI series’ against Australia and England – can they add a T20 series to the list? They’re very close to doing that now.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
There is rain forecast for Manchester on Friday, but thankfully it looks pretty clear for game time. The weather massively impacted the 1st T20 as we knew it would, but I would still recommend watching the radar here because you never know what can bubble up in September. We actually haven’t had many International T20’s here recently; since the end of 2020 we’ve only actually had two games here. Pakistan played in 2021, England chased down 154/6 and then in 2023 England posted 198/4 against New Zealand to win by 95 runs. Given we’re likely to have damp and cold conditions, I would go into this game with an open mind on scoring.
RECOMMENDED BET:
We landed our bet on South Africa on Wednesday, and to be honest I haven’t seen any reason to change tactics here. South Africa are trading 2.44 and for me that’s still a cracking value price. South Africa have been this price more-or-less in every day this tour and we’ve landed three out of our four bets. They’ve looked the better side to be honest, and I fully expect this game to be closer than the odds suggest and it wouldn’t be surprise to see South Africa come out on top again.
The Edge Says:
One point win South Africa to beat England at 2.44 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
It’s hard to go into this game with a set in-running strategy to be honest. We have rain around during the day, so I would like to see who England decide to pick in their XI – obviously Archer is key there – and then of course what scoring conditions will be like. I do feel the 2.44 on South Africa is too big, and it’s likely that the market will offer value on South Africa for a large part of the game.
