ENGLAND V SOUTH AFRICA: The Edge previews the 3rd T20 between England and South Africa from Trent Bridge with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have a T20 series decider on Betdaq Betting Exchange this weekend as England and South Africa clash at Nottingham. After losing the 1st T20 in difficult conditions in Cardiff, England came roaring back on Friday night in Manchester posting over 300 runs! That’s quite the feat in T20 cricket, even if the wicket was incredibly flat. Phil Salt and Jos Buttler led the way with some incredible hitting – that pretty much confirms who will open for England at the next World Cup, if there was any question. Jacob Bethell played a nice cameo knock too ahead of him becoming the youngest captain of England against Ireland next week.
South Africa have done really well on this tour. The bowlers have basically been smashed around twice; when the ODI series was already in the bag and then on Friday. You can make excuses for both times really; obviously you can make the motivation argument for the final ODI and then the wicket was a road on Friday. That being said, the reality is when England get going in white ball cricket it’s very hard to stop them. Their hitters are the best in the world when they get going. We should have another fascinating game here; the big question is can England finally put back-to-back performances together and land the series?
From a South African point of view, they definitely would have taken this position at the start of the tour. An ODI series win and a chance to land the T20 series – they can’t complain. Obviously you’d have to be worried about their bowling if England get going, but when South Africa have been on top they have contained England very well. Another cracker awaits, but the weather forecast does look poor.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We’ve had quite the range of conditions so far this series! From very wet conditions in Cardiff to one of the flattest wickets of the season in Manchester. I would assume the ECB are asking for reasonably flat wickets. We don’t have a huge volume of data in International T20 here; Trent Bridge have actually only hosted three International T20’s since 2012. In 2021, Pakistan posted 232/6 to win by 31 runs, in 2022 England scored 215/7 to beat India by 17 runs and then in 2023 New Zealand chased down 175/8 from England. Unfortunately, it looks like the weather is going to have a massive impact here and you’ll have to keep an eye on the radar all day!
RECOMMENDED BET:
At the time of writing, the weather forecast does look quite poor. We aren’t going to get a 20 over game, and we’re going to have a similar situation to Cardiff here; it’s unlikely we see a 10+ over a side game to be honest. We might see a quick 5 over bash, and I feel South Africa are worth backing at 2.66. I just expect conditions to make the game closer than those odds suggest. Another factor has to be that if we do get a window from the rain, England might not risk Jofra Archer just like Cardiff.
The Edge Says:
One point win South Africa to beat England at 2.66 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With the weather forecast, this game is going to be about watching the radar and seeing what opportunities arise from that. As I said above, we aren’t going to get a full game here so the conditions could easily be the difference. South Africa did very well under similar circumstances on Wednesday in Cardiff, and I feel the market will offer good value on them again here. Keep an eye on the team news too; the ECB won’t risk their star men in very wet conditions given the volume of cricket England have.
