GOWRAN PARK: Shamrock heads to Gowran Park on Wednesday for their eight race card which gets underway at 4.05.
I was pleased to land the place NAP bet yesterday with King Malik – especially as the race was won by a 66/1 chance that was impossible to fancy! King Malik was over evens at the time of selection and I’ll continue to monitor the BETDAQ place market in coming weeks.
At Gowran Park today the ground is good to soft, soft in places and large fields are the order of the day.
For the nap I’m going with Mona Brown in the maiden at 5.05. Like several of the leading contenders here she has had plenty of chances to lose the maiden tag but on balance her overall form looks superior and the BETDAQ early offers of around 3.3. Interesting to see that the reserve runner Honky Tonk Queen is prominent in the market too.
Galway winner Cul Baire was beaten at odds-on at Wexford last time out but not by far and remains a horse with great potential and worthy of support today in the 7.40.
