8pm Friday night football from Europe comes from La Liga this week as Osasuna host Getafe on Betdaq Betting Exchange. After a blockbuster week in the Champions League, this isn’t the most glamorous fixture from Europe this week, but we do have an interesting betting heat. Osasuna come into the game as the favourites at 2.28 with Getafe 4.1 and the draw is 3.0 at the time of writing. Osasuna finished just outside the European spots last season, while Getafe were involved in the relegation battle – there were plenty of clubs involved, but they ended up two points away from the bottom three despite finishing in 13th.
From that point of view, Getafe will be delighted with their start to this season – results wise anyway! They have managed eleven points from their seven games, and every point may prove massive for them. You can clearly see they still have issues when you look at their under-lining numbers. Their average xG created is only 1.02, which is the second worst attacking figure in La Liga after everyone has played seven games. The only side to create less is new boys Oviedo.
What saved Getafe last season was how good they were at the back. They finished the season with an average xG conceded of only 1.07 – only Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao were batter at the back on paper. Obviously Getafe still have a lot of issues going forward, but it’s clear that they can grind out results. It’s not pretty, but it gets the job done and to be honest if you’re a club like Getafe, staying in the top flight is the priority.
They have been leaking a few more chances this season, but they still have a better average xG conceded compared to Osasuna who have been very poor at the back. To be honest, Osasuna have had a terrible start to the season when you look at their performance levels – their average xG created is only 1.05 which is in the bottom three attacking figures and their average xG conceded is as high as 1.67 which is in the bottom six defensive figures. I’m happy to keep stakes small here because clearly both sides have issues, but the 2.28 on Osasuna looks too short to me given their under-lining numbers. Getafe can grind out a result here, and I’m happy with the Osasuna lay from a value point of view.
