BULL’S-EYE BET AT PONTEFRACT: Daqman finds value on BETDAQ at 12.0, 11.8 and 9.0 as rain changes the going at Pontefract. They include a bull’s-eye bet but the nap is at Deauville.
TOMORROW: Daqman starts his countdown to the Jumps season.
MELODY HIT FOR MOSSE
⭕ 2.40 Deauville Francis-Henri Graffard is not the only rising trainer to use the riding skills of Mickael Barzalona, winner for him of last month’s Arc and of Saturday’s British Champion Stakes on horses for the Aga Khan’s stud.
Gerald Mosse, who started training only last July, has already saddled 36 winners, 28 of them this year.
Himself one-time jockey for the Aga Khan, Mosse, who hung up his riding boots after 41 years, won the Arc in 1990 on Saumarez.
Barzalona’s recent mounts for Mosse include landing a big-field gamble on Bellano at Longchamp at the Arc meeting earlier this month.
Today they team up with Kiss Melody in this Group-3 for 2yo fillies. A daughter of Almanzor out of a Golden Horn mare, she is already a Deauville winner.
GREEN A RED FLAG AT 12.0
⭕ 3.03 Pontefract (Silver Tankard) Karl Burke has won 57 two-year-old races at home this year, and he and jockey Clifford Lee are hot favourites here with Shayem.
Only yesterday, the partnership was seen at its best with victory in the Group-2 Conseil de Paris at Longchamp, when Lee on the three-year-old, Convergent, tracked Oisin Murphy, who couldn’t get Yellow Jersey to settle.
Then in the fillies’ and mares’ Listed, Murphy made no mistake on John and Thady Gosden’s Rainbows Edge, taking them along and leaving enough in the tank to stay clear of Velikaya, who was locked in on the rails under Barzalona.
Shayem was third in a Listed at Haydock, and the winner went on to take the Group-2 Royal Lodge at Newmarket
The main danger, getting 5lb, is probably Green Carrera, recent winner of his maiden on the reopened Thurles track for Joseph O’Brien. Too big at Betdaq Betting Exchange 12.0 this morning (3.4 two places and forecast with Shayem).
JUST LOVING 11.0 PLOT!
⭕ 3.33 Pontefract The rain will suit Sophia’s Starlight and Arctic Summer, top and bottom of the market, but birthday-boy Ed Dunlop has his eye on a celebration strike.
Dunlop, who is having a great season, currently 5-12 in his last five racing days, has booked Silvestre De Sousa for Loving Apprentice.
Silvestre is 1-1 at Pontefract this season and that sole winning raider was also for Dunlop.
Loving Apprentice is a CD winner who loves soft ground and is blinkered first time. Forget his last run when bumped at the start here and never recovered. BETDAQ 11.0 taken.
CAPTAIN CHASING COMEDY
⭕ 4.03 Pontefract (Phil Bull Trophy) As tricky a contest as you’ll find yet with a long-odds-on favourite, Divine Comedy, who has run 13 times in 12 months, winning only once in May last year.
The mare is up 10lb for her efforts in the Ascot Stakes twice (second in 2024) and was not disgraced, fourth, in the Cesarewitch only nine days back.
She still gets 10lb from the grey Chemistry, who has missed a whole year but has a 50% record since his maiden.
Chemistry won a Listed in August 2024 for Aidan O’Brien before being gelded and moved to Ivan Furtado.
Captain Potter is already established over the course and distance and in fact has Pontefract form since June of 2111. Looks big on BETDAQ at 9.8 (forecast with Divine Comedy).

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
