ESPANYOL V SEVILLA

8pm It’s the start of a massive week from Europe on Betdaq Betting Exchange! The Champions League and Europa League return this week after the International Break. We kick things off with Monday Night Football from La Liga as Espanyol and Sevilla – not the most glamorous fixture this week compared to what we have ahead to enjoy, but we do have a very interesting betting heat.

I do feel this market reflects how far Sevilla have fallen in recent years. They were a banker for Top Four not long ago, now they have turned into a mid-table La Liga side since they flirted with the relegation battle in the 2022/23 season. They actually won the Europa League this season, kept their place in the Champions League, and you felt that season was just a blip – but they simply haven’t recovered. They are nowhere near Top Four standard anymore, and they are coming into games as outsiders against the likes of Espanyol here.

Espanyol come into the game as the favourites at 2.12 with Sevilla 3.95 and the draw is 3.4 at the time of writing. Espanyol are having a dream season to be honest; after being heavily involved in the relegation battle they come into this matchday sitting in sixth. For a while, They were in the Top Four! Last season, they had the second worst attacking figure and the second worst defensive figure in La Liga but managed to survive. You might feel they’ve been lucky this season looking at that, but they actually have the fourth best attacking figure in La Liga this season!

Only Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have created more chances than Espanyol this season. They have struggled to convert their chances too, so they could be even higher in the table. The worry is they are also conceding plenty of chances – so far they have been getting away with that but there’s only 0.06 between the sides here at the back. In attack, there’s a huge difference – Espanyol have an average xG created of 1.61 compared to Sevilla at 1.19.

Since Sevilla have dropped out, they have really struggled to create good quality chances. They have also had massive issues at the back, but they seem to have corrected that for now – it seems to have come at a cost in attack though. I’m going to keep stakes limited here, but Sevilla seem there for the taking and Espanyol are clearly playing good football this season – I’m happy to take the 2.12 on the home win.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Espanyol to beat Sevilla at 2.12 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
