THE MAN FOR THE BIG OCCASION: Tipping warrior Daqman won the chase of the season so far in Ireland yesterday, continuing a sequence which started with a bull’s-eye bet at Kempton Park. Since then he has scored at the Grade-1 tracks of Ascot, Haydock and Punchestown in a long weekend of big races, winning 150 points from five events.
WON 13-8 GAELIC WARRIOR (win 20, Punchestown Chase, Sunday)
WON 10-3 ROCK MY WAY (win 20, Berkshire National, Saturday)
WON 6-5 KABRAL DU MATHAN (win 20, Saturday nap)
WON 4-1 MONTREGARD (win-40 Friday, BETDAQ 6.7)
WON 6-1 TWO TEMPTING (win-50 Wednesday, BETDAQ 8.5)
THE GREAT GAELIC BATTLE
Fact or fiction! Drama extraordinary was filed into the annals of jumps racing at Punchestown yesterday.
After Gaelic Warrior went well clear and looked certain to win the John Durkan, Fact To File came out of the pack and wore away relentlessly at a seemingly unassailable lead.
It was his turn to go odds on as he took the last in front, but the Warrior fought back and got up again in a desperate fight on the long run-in, the pair nearly 30 lengths clear.
Though Willie Mullins saddled six of the 10 runners, the market said Gaelic Warrior was a good thing.
But in the first challenge to jockey Paul Townend’s choice, Fact To File edged favouritism, 11-8 to 13-8, though who could truly believe that such a race in depth would have them fight out a neck-and-neck finish to match their odds.
They did. And normally the craving for a rematch starts now, but you have to add to the mix two more heroes of the weekend, Grey Dawning and Jango Baie.
You must then shake them in a cocktail with Gold Cup winners already, Inothewayyurthinkin and Galopin Des Champs, and you surely get the ingredients for the most sensational season ahead.
👁️ LOOK OUT for Daqman’s assessment of the scene plus Hot Spots and, no doubt, more weekend winners at the big meetings which feature the Newbury Gold Cup and the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle.
THAT’LL DO FOR THE NAP
⭕ 2.30 Kempton (Listed Race) I’ll rely. in part, on the official ratings here and trust That’ll Do Moss to land this on her seasonal reappearance.
The Fergal O’Brien trained runner heads the Betdaq Betting Exchange market and is rated 3lb clear of Della Casa Lunga and a full 8lb+ of the rest of the field.
She’s run well after a break before so I’m not too worried about the 218 day absence – mespecially with the stable in great form.
She was a 50/1 chance when last seen chasing home Aurora Vega in a Grade 1 at Fairyhouse. Needless to say a reproduction of that form line should be more than good enough in this lower grade.
ONE DART IN THE LAST
⭕ 3.40 Kempton At The Oche sauntered home at 1/5 to win a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las and was then sent off favourite on handicap debut at Ascot where he finished a half length second to Mount Anglesby. The front three finished well clear and the form looks strong enough in the context of this race.
Surrey Lord may be sent off favourite having won well in soft ground at Ffos Las last time out. This looks tougher and the switch to good ground in better company, not to mention a 7lb hike in the weights, might count against him.
THIS NEEDS A SERIOUS LOOK
⭕ 8.00 Wolverhampton Plenty of out of form sorts with the exception being Serious Look who won here two starts ago and seemingly struggled off a higher mark next time out.
However, the seventh place wasn’t as bad as it might first appear. He was only beaten two and three quarter lengths having met trouble in the run.
Rhythm N Rock is second favourite and I’m not really sure why! He’s been beaten sizeable margins in his last five starts – four of which have come at Kempton. The 1lb drop in the weights looks no where near enough to bring about an improvement.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
