STAR NAP LANDS A GAMBLE: Daqman’s star choice won as the money horse at the Wolverhampton evening meeting yesterday, so he’s quickly back to form after the weekend run of big-race winners (see Monday’s story).

WON 4-5 SARAB STAR (BETDAQ 2.4, nap)

THE SEA SHALL HAVE THEM

⭕ 1.55 Market Rasen The market knows the outcome of this Pertemps qualifier: all winners have been between 9-4 and 7-1 SP; no shocks.

But had it got it the right way round this morning at 2-1 or so C’Est Different, 3-1ish Tranquil Sea.

Harry Skelton, who has a 24% strike rate there, reported to trainer Dan that their favourite, Tranquil Sea, didn’t get home in the qualifier at Newbury three weeks back behind the stamina horse, Irish Grand National winner, Haiti Couleurs, with Lihyan in third, short of room. That’s why a wind op and tongue-tie restored.

So can he now give almost a stone to Sam Thomas’s C’Est Different, who faces five obstacles other than the Market Rasen hurdles?

It’s a near-half-mile step up in trip; it’s a first handicap; it’s three grades higher; it follows a punitive 17lb rise for back-to-back novice wins.

And C’Est Different missed the Cheltenham meeting 11 days back, because of a vet’s certificate for a joint ailment.

COBDEN FAITH IN PAGGANE

⭕ 2.25 Market Rasen This mares’ Listed chase lines up three last-time winners, though Minniemum is given only 4lb to close a ratings gap of up to two stone.

Harry Cobden, booked for Paggane, says that the six-year-old pings her fences and will stay further than when she had Apple Away 13 lengths behind when winning at Carlisle.

Marsh Wren beat Apple Away 16 lengths on today’s course, making all when fresh in this very race last year.

However, it’s her first start since that day when her time was getting on for a minute slow on much softer ground.

BIG WHISPER AT SOUTHWELL

⭕ 3.35 Southwell Southwell switches from yesterday’s jumps card back to NHFlat but it’s still strange to see them scheduled alongside Market Rasen, only 40 miles away. Wetherby is then just 75 miles further North. And they’re all afternoon meetings.

I’ve saved my Southwell bet until last. So I hope my bike doesn’t get a puncture on the A1.

Hucklesbrook won at Kempton a year last autumn, and had back-to-back strikes up to today’s level this summer, but I’m surprised such an in-and-out performer is rated within 5lb of Berkshire Whisper.

‘Whisper’ landed a hat-trick in the Spring and was afterwards not disgraced in Listed (at Newbury) and Group 1 (at Ascot). Big at 8.4 on Betdaq Betting Exchange.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
