LA LIGA PREVIEW: The Ultra previews ALAVES v REAL MADRID with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ALAVES V REAL MADRID
8pm The focus on Sunday from Europe on Betdaq Betting Exchange is La Liga, with Real Madrid back in action as they travel to take on Alaves. It’s fair to say that there’s an ongoing crisis at Real Madrid at the moment – a loss midweek at home against Manchester City wouldn’t have done anything to ease the pressure on Xabi Alonso after he watched his side only win once in their last five La Liga matches. After a win in the first El Clasico of the season, they’ve turned a five point lead into a four point deficit.
This run has come at the same time as rumours of the players being unhappy with the training style of Alonso. Apparently they are being made to work too hard in training, which at the start of the reports didn’t have any support but football moves fast, and now suddenly all the pressure is on Alonso. Football will always be a result business! This is a game that Real will be expected to win on paper, but you could have easily said that about the four games they have dropped points in – ironically their toughest game on paper was away to Athletic Bilbao and they won 3-0.
Real Madrid come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.77 with Alaves 5.6 and the draw is 3.8 at the time of writing. It’ll be very interesting to see where the market goes before kick off here – I’m sure there will be plenty of layers for Real given the situation. I have to say, despite the poor run their performances levels have suggested that they have done anything wrong. They finished with xG figures of 2.1 v Rayo Vallecano, 2.25 v Elche, 2.6 v Girona and 2.49 v Celta Vigo. Somewhat ironically, they have overtaken Barcelona in the middle of this run with the best attacking figure in La Liga because they are creating so much. They could have easily scored three or four goals in each game.
Those performance levels are not a reflection of a side who are playing under a manager who has lost the dressing room. Alaves have based their whole game plan this season around being tight at the back and turning every game into a cagey affair. They are an average La Liga side, and that style of play usually puts you in mid-table which is surely the aim for them. Their games have had very few goals this season – they’ve only conceded 15 goals in 15 games and scored 13. It’ll be interesting to see can Real create a lot here, but I have to say the 1.77 makes a huge amount of appeal on Real. It’s clear to see that they aren’t playing badly at the moment despite the run of results and I’m happy to take the 1.77 with a Five Star NAP!
The Ultra Says:
