CARABAO CUP QUARTER FINALS TUESDAY: The Striker previews CARDIFF v CHELSEA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
CARDIFF V CHELSEA
8pm The hectic football schedule continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange this week! We’ve had a huge run of games for the Premier League sides – midweek fixture list, into a full weekend, then Champions League, into a full weekend fixture list and now we’re into the Carabao Cup Quarter-Finals this week before another weekend just before Christmas. Chelsea finally got back to winning ways at the weekend with a smooth 2-0 win over Everton – that was badly needed after losing to Atalanta midweek and going three Premier League games without a win.
Chelsea will be fully expected to progress in the first Quarter-Final given the big gulf in class between themselves and Cardiff. It’s no surprise that they come into the game as the red-hot favourites. Chelsea are trading 1.26 with Cardiff 13.0 and the draw is 7.0 at the time of writing. While there is clearly a massive gulf in class between the Premier League and League One – Cardiff are having a wonderful season. They won a 4-3 thriller over Doncaster at the weekend and top League One by four points at the moment. At least you can say that they will come into this fixture with a tonne of confidence, and with home advantage they can have a good go at the upset.
It is hard to see past a Chelsea win here, but I wouldn’t be rushing to take the 1.26 to be honest. That’s a short price in my opinion – Cardiff have won their last five League One games and scored 14 goals along the way. Possibly the most interesting thing leading into this fixture will be what XI Chelsea name – they have obviously had a very hectic schedule and the fixtures keep on coming. They might see this fixture as an ideal time to rest a few of their stars, but that could be dangerous given the goal scoring form Cardiff are in, albeit at a much lower level.
Chelsea have been rock solid at the back this season though. Their average xG conceded of 1.15 in the Premier League is the third best defensive figure only behind Arsenal and Manchester City! Cardiff have been conceding way more than that in League One – their average xG conceded is 1.42 which is quite high given they top the table. I feel this is a game for small stakes – obviously with Chelsea so short we’ll have to look around the side markets for some value. With Cardiff scoring so much I feel Over 2.5 goals is worth a small bet at 1.58 – Chelsea will be expected to win easily given the gulf in class and you have the added chance of Cardiff finding the net.
The Striker Says:
One point win Over 2.5 goals at 1.58 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
