Fulham host Nottingham Forest and while we had some massive games over the weekend, and this fixture might not be as glamorous we do have an interesting market. It’s an open betting heat with Fulham the favourites at 2.56, Nottingham Forest are 3.1 and the draw is 3.4 at the time of writing.
Both sides are hanging around the bottom of the table; they aren’t really in danger of going down, and now they are both starting to pull away from the relegation zone too. Another win for Forest last weekend meant they came into this matchday five points away from West Ham in 18th spot. Morale has really been boosted since Sean Dyche came in, and Ange Postecoglou is long forgotten – football moves on quickly! Ironically, given the owners decisions, Nottingham Forest are creating more this season than when they massively over-performed to get European football last season.
This should be a very competitive game – Fulham are very solid at home and it’s no surprise that they are favourites. Forest have been creating more this season; their average xG created is 1.46 compared to Fulham at 1.32. However, Forest are conceding more – their average xG conceded is 1.46 compared to Fulham at 1.38. Both sides have pretty average mid-table standard performance levels; they should probably be a little higher in the table but you wouldn’t exactly say they are unlucky to not be sitting in the top half of the table.
It’s quite easy to pick holes in both sides here, so this game feels like it’s one for small stakes. Fulham have played better in general at home this season, but they do come into this one having lost their last two home games – but we can forgive them losing to Manchester City! Fulham’s recent games have been packed with goals. They had the 5-4 loss against Manchester City, and then beat Burnley 3-2 last weekend. Forest games have been quite open too – they have lost and won 3-0 in their last two. I feel we’ll see goals here, and Over 2.5 goals is trading 2.14 which looks good value – I’m have that market closer to 50/50 but as I said, this is a game for small stakes.
