FINAL FLING: Lingfield (AW), Huntingdon, Musselburgh and Wolverhampton stage racing on Monday on the final day before the Christmas break. Daqman bids to head into the festivities with a winning day before the action resumes on Friday with the 11.40 at Down Royal.
SAM HAS X FACTOR
⭕ 1.30 Lingfield The action switches back to the all-weather after Sunday’s jumps card here with most of the nine races looking fairly impossible from a punting perspective.
The one bet for me on the Betdaq Betting Exchange comes in this five furlong sprint for three-year-olds where Sam’s Xpress can return to the winners’ enclosure. He notched up two wins at Chelmsford and Wolverhampton and has run well enough since suggesting he might still be on a winning mark.
We’ll know our fate early as he’s usually lightning away from the stalls and if he does win ‘made all’ is a very likely post race comment. Regular pilot Dylan Hogan is in the saddle.
Captain Kinsella and Level Up will most likely to be trying to run him down in the closing stages. Both have fairly exposed profiles.
Captain Kinsella just looks in need of a break and I’m sceptical as to whether the first time cheekpieces will rejuvenate him whilst Level Up scored by a nose at Chelmsford three starts ago and makes limited appeal from his one pound higher mark.
FINAL FRONTIER
⭕ 2.20 Huntingdon Quite a few of these look capable of finding further improvement as they are in the early days of their handicap careers.
My eyes are taken by the Fergal O’Brien trained Frontier Prince who surely brings the best form to the table with his Cheltenham third to French Emperor in a race that was run in virtual darkness so the comments are limited!
It was a good effort in form terms and he has been given a real chance here off just a one pound higher mark and in a lower grade.
Across Earth is up 6lb for his impressive Sandown win whilst Ambiente Friendly starts life in handicap company off a mark of 119 and that looks high enough.
BOARDING TIME
⭕ 5.00 Wolverhampton American Flight is chasing a four-timer but up 3lb for a narrow margin win last time out over six furlongs and is now down in trip.
He’s speedy and probably equally adept over both distances but my instinct was to take him on. However, there are so many question marks over his main rivals that suggest American Flight remains the percentage call.
U S S Charleston is now 0-7 and was last of 10 at Nottingham last time out whilst Canyouhearthedrums needs to find some improvement after her modest third last time out.
