SUNDERLAND V LEEDS

2pm Super Sunday from the Premier League has two interesting markets on Betdaq Betting Exchange! We kick the day off with Sunderland hosting Leeds – at the start of the season you could have called this a massive game in the relegation battle but both sides have had excellent starts to their season! Sunderland fans have been living in dream land; they went into Christmas sitting up in sixth place with just four losses from their 17 games. Leeds will also be very pleased – they now have a six point cushion on West Ham and it’s starting to look like the bottom three won’t change. It’s looked very difficult to stay up in the Premier League recently after coming up from the Championship, and these two have done extremely well. Sunderland came into this season trading odds on for relegation, and obviously to be sitting in sixth place they are over-performing – the fans might be in dream land but there are some major red flags in their performance levels. Sunderland only have an average xG created of 1.12, which is the third worst attacking figure in the Premier League – only Wolves and Burnley have created less, and they are both nailed on to go down this season.

Sunderland have also been poor at the back – they have an average xG conceded of 1.69 which is the third worst defensive figure. This is the area where they have massive over-performed and got away with things. They have only conceded 17 goals in 17 games, and eventually sides are going to start taking their chances. As you would expect, we have a very open betting heat – Sunderland come into the game as the favourites at 2.74 with Leeds 2.92 and the draw is 3.35 at the time of writing. Leeds might be closer to the relegation zone, but they have been playing much better football compared to Sunderland this season. They are actually creating more than they are conceding – but they have been too sloppy at the back this season, conceding more than they should. I know we have an open market, but I would have the side even closer together – even with home advantage, I’m happy to lay Sunderland at the odds here. I am also happy to keep stakes reasonably low here; the best way to describe these two is a little unpredictable but the Sunderland lay is the value call in my opinion.

The Striker Says:
Two points lay (liability) Sunderland to beat Leeds at 2.74 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

CRYSTAL PALACE V TOTTENHAM

4.30pm We finish Super Sunday with Crystal Palace hosting Spurs. There’s never a dull moment with Spurs, so this should be an entertaining game! After such a positive start to the season, Spurs have been dropping down the table like a stone recently – they sat down in 14th for Christmas and to be honest, that is a more accurate reflection of their performance level then when they were towards the top of the table at the start of the season. They had only lost once in their first seven games, but since then they’ve only won twice in ten. Their under-lining numbers have been woeful this season too – Thomas Frank must surely be starting to feel the heat. They have an average xG created of 1.2 this season, which is the joint-fifth worst attacking figure in the Premier League this season – they are conceding more than they are creating too; which isn’t difficult with an attacking figure so poor! Somewhat ironically, they played better football and created more under Ange Postecoglou, but winning the Europa League wasn’t enough to save his job. It just feels like Spurs are a mess at the moment – it’ll be interesting to see do the fans get on the managers back soon.

Crystal Palace were involved in midweek action, away to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup Quarter-Final. They pushed Arsenal all the way and lost 8-7 on penalties! With home advantage, it’s no surprise that Crystal Palace come into the game as the favourites at 2.34 with Spurs 3.4 and the draw is 3.45 at the time of writing. It’s hard to be positive with Spurs at the moment – if I wasn’t backing Palace, I’d rather stay out of the match odds market to be honest. The 2.34 doesn’t jump off the page on Palace either – they are just marginally conceding more than they are creating this season. I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market here because this game screams goals – Over 2.5 goals is trading 2.08 which I was very surprised to see when I clicked into the market. I know Spurs have struggled to create good quality chances this season but they’ve made so many mistakes at the back and Palace have leaked goals too, I can see this being a very end-to-end game and I’d have Overs odds on.

The Striker Says:
Three points win Over 2.5 goals at 2.08 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
