427 MILES (EACH WAY!)

⭕ 12.48 Ayr The RAC journey planner says it’s just the 427 miles from David Pipe’s Nicholashayne base in Somerset to Ayr so it must be significant that he has chosen to send just one runner on the journey today – Bras D’Or in the opener.

The JP owned runner handled soft ground well enough in a better class 2 race at Cheltenham two starts ago so the hope must be he can handle the forecast heavy on what is a two step drop in class for this novices’ hurdle.

He was no match for the odds on Un Sens A La Vie at Ludlow last time out but still ran well in second and had the rest of the field nicely strung out.

Next Twist is the obvious danger on the Betdaq Betting Exchange. He was a comfortable winner at Southwell last time out and probably needs to improve again but that isn’t out the question for the Olly Murphy yard who are going so well at the moment.

Kilnesare Flight is the dark horse of the race, he handled soft ground well on UK debut at Carlisle in November in a bumper and connections have chosen this in preference to a maiden hurdle at Newcastle on Thursday which, on paper, might have been the easier option.

LET’S GET DIGITAL

⭕ 3.08 Newcastle Digital is the oldest in the field at eight but handles this course and distance so well that another win looks on the cards.

After a C&D win in December he started the New Year well here with a second to Little Mi Mi, again over this trip. He should again hold La Rochette who was a 50/1 third.

Azucena is the other course and distance winner in the race who is now tried in blinkers for the first time on her 32nd career start! Whether they rekindle her current form, which has dropped off a bit, remains to be seen.

PUT A SOCK IN IT

⭕ 5.30 Southwell I’ve been looking forward to Pink Socks’ next run after she bolted home by five and a half lengths at Newcastle on Saturday.

She’s up in the weights for this but striking while the iron is hot seems the right policy and crucially she seems to have improved for the switch in stables to Ian Williams and could still be on the right side of the handicapper.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
