SIX OF THE BEST: Daqman sticks to the all-weather on Tuesday and naps a horse bidding for a remarkable sixth win on the trot.

GEWAN TOP OF THE CLASS: Dewhurst winner Gewan has been declared Europe’s top two-year-old with a rating of 121. A team of international handicappers gave the award to the Andrew Balding trained runner which ended the recent Aidan O’Brien and Charlie Appleby monopoly on the award.

GIVE AISLING THE OSCAR

⭕ 2.13 Newcastle A sight you see very rarely these days – a horse bidding for a sixth win on the trot.

The handicapper usually spoils the fun long before such a sequence is notched up but in the case of the five-year-old Aisling Oscar he has definitely slipped through the net.

Whilst I feel I’m a little late joining the party that’s also countered by the fact that in pure handicapping terms he remains a compelling prospect today given he races off the same mark as last week – going unpenalised for winning an apprentice race over the seven furlong trip here.

He’s equally as adept over today’s mile distance and in this kind of form is really hard to oppose.

Main danger on the Betdaq Betting Exchange is Tasever who was a little disappointing when a course and distance sixth last time out and gets no relief from the handicapper.

At bigger odds Little Ted brings good recent form to the table and has a great chance of running into a place again.

BETSEN THE BET

⭕ 2.43 Newcastle Betsen popped up at 40/1 at Southwell in a class 2 on his first start for trainer Tony Carroll and the 2lb hike in the weights seems fair enough given the narrow margin of success.

Down a grade today, he is hard to get past – particularly if you subscribe to the theory that he has been rekindled by the change of yard.

I’m not put off by his 1-16 career record as looking back it appears he has been quite highly tried in the majority of his races and he is a more promising 1-2 on the all-weather.

Complete outsider The Bell Conductor has been nibbled at in morning Betdaq trading. He hasn’t been seen since only beating one home at Doncaster 128 days ago but has run well after a break before.

KIRBY DOUBLE CHANCE

⭕ 7.30 Southwell Forgien saw out the two mile trip well when winning at Lingfield on Saturday but makes limited appeal with his 5lb penalty and likely favourite.

Philip Kirby saddles two interesting rivals in Achnamara (down in weights and class) and Himself (1m 4f winner here in November but worth another step up in trip).

The mare Stintino Sunset is up in trip for the first time and is another danger to worry those who want to take short odds about Forgien.
