CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEDNESDAY: The Ultra previews MARSEILLE v LIVERPOOL and NEWCASTLE v PSV both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MARSEILLE V LIVERPOOL
8pm The Champions League action continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange with two huge games on Wednesday night. The clock is ticking down on getting into the top eight with just two group matchdays left, and the pressure is on. We kick off the night with a massive game in France as Marseille host Liverpool – both sides are coming into this week within three points of the top eight. For Liverpool, they actually have the same amount of points as Atletico Madrid sitting just above them in eighth – there’s some huge clubs sitting behind Liverpool though; Barcelona and Juventus stand out but you also have the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle and Napoli have actually been having a mare in the Champions League this season – they are on the bubble for the top 24 never mind the top eight! Liverpool have a very easy final fixture (on paper) next week at home to Qarabag, but this will be the tricky fixture and it’s no surprise that they aren’t trading odds on given the issues they have had this season. Liverpool are trading 2.04 with Marseille 3.8 and the draw is 3.95 at the time of writing. Liverpool dropped more points at the weekend in the Premier League; an exceptionally disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Burnley.
I have to say, I wouldn’t be rushing to take the 2.02 on Liverpool away from home here. Obviously they have steadied the ship domestically after going on a run of six losses in seven games. However, when you zoom out with all the draws, they’ve only actually won five times in their last 17 Premier League games. Three of those wins have come against Wolves, Spurs and West Ham too. Liverpool are creating a lot, but most of the issues have been at the back – they have been very sloppy and got themselves into some difficult situations. Marseille Champions League games have been very entertaining – Over 2.5 goals had landed in all but one of their fixtures. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.7 here and that stands out as the best value bet – Liverpool actually have the second best attacking figure in the Premier League at the moment but as I said, they have been sloppy at the back and will give Marseille plenty of chances here in what should be an open game. I’m happy with a confident bet at 1.7.

NEWCASTLE V PSV
8pm We finish Wednesday night with a massive game for Newcastle as they host PSV. I don’t think it’s being overly dramatic to call this a must win game for Newcastle – they come into the week sitting in 12th spot just two points off the top eight, but the problem is they are away to PSG in their final matchday and obviously that will be an exceptionally difficult game. I don’t think they are in too much danger of falling out of the top 24, but they need to lock in a win here with home advantage. PSV are also under pressure – they come into the week sitting down in 21st and obviously very close to falling out of the top 24. They have some big clubs sitting behind the too. PSV are very dominant in the Netherlands at the moment – they’ve won the last two titles and are running away with the title this season too, but there is a massive gulf in class between the Premier League and the Eredivisie. From that point of view, it’s no surprise that Newcastle come into the game as the odds on favourites. Newcastle are trading 1.48 with PSV 6.6 and the draw is 5.7 at the time of writing.
I know there’s a big gulf in class here, but I wouldn’t be rushing to take the 1.48 on Newcastle. The best way to describe them this season is lacklustre – they sit in mid-table of the Premier League under-performing in front of goal. Their average xG created isn’t that bad at 1.57, but they’ve been struggling to convert those chances after selling their star striker to Liverpool at the start of the season. PSV are obviously full of confidence from their domestic fixtures, but they have been found out a little in the Champions League. I do feel with Newcastle a little short at 1.48 in my opinion, I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market. It was disappointing to see Newcastle only draw 0-0 away to Wolves at the weekend – another sign of the issues they are having up front to be honest! PSV will play a very open game here; their Champions League games have been very entertaining this season – they are on a crazy winning run domestically too, and I feel they’ll attack here. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.42 so the market is expecting goals, but Both Teams To Score looks the value bet at 1.6 – I feel we’ll have an end-to-end game here with plenty of chances.

Two points win Both Teams To Score at 1.6 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
