TODAY: More praise from Daqman for Sean Bowen, the man he described as the diamond in the rough and ready world of jump jockeys.
TOMORROW: The Dublin Festival (NOTE: inspection called for 2.30pm this afternoon) and what it means to Cheltenham; some startling betting disclosures.
BOWEN BOSSES THE GEEZER
WHAT THEY SAY: It’s all right for a champion jockey: he can pick the easy rides. No wonder Sean Bowen has nearly 200 winners this season.
THE REALITY: Check out the second of Bowen’s three straight winners at Ayr yesterday. Some Press and commentator comments on Diamond Geezer:
‘Last and sluggish; not fluent, detached; after one full circuit; taken wide of the others; drifted to 12.0. Being ridden again; three out and still last.
‘At the final flight Bowen has somehow bossed Diamond Geezer one by one past everything under strong pressure to force his way up the inside and go right away for winner number 184.’
BAY IS NO LAY!
⭕ 2.02 Southwell Form figures of 2222-2 usually set alarm bells for punters, although as an owner they are banking reasonable prize money, yet Clover Time is set to go off favourite on the Betdaq Betting Exchange market in this six furlong handicap.
A keen front runner he isn’t doing much wrong – just getting picked off from the front including over course and distance last time out. He’s readily opposable today.
The obvious alternative is hat-trick seeking Betties Bay who is out again quickly after her Lingfield win last Saturday and should be able to defy the statutory 5lb penalty.
She is two from two since joining the James Owen yard and it’s quite possible she remains nicely in front of the handicapper given her previous modest form now looks a thing of the past.
EVERYTHING COMING UP ROSES
⭕ 2.32 Southwell A horse with a very similar current profile to Betties Boy is Brazilian Rose who is also bidding for a hat-trick and is also out again quickly after her recent win.
In her case, it will be a course and distance hat-trick following wins earlier in the month when, as today, she was partnered by Kaiya Fraser. She seemed to have plenty in hand when beating Insuspense last week over 6f and seems equally as efficient over the 6f and 7f trips.
Saytarr is interesting given he is 2-5 on the all-weather and probably fractionally better than class 5 level. He is also having his first start for trainer James Horton having joined from the Charlie Fellowes yard.
On just her third start Lodge is entitled to make further progress and wasn’t been far on her handicap debut at Wolverhampton. She has place prospects here.
GAV TO LAND NAP
⭕ 4.00 Ffos Las I think if El Gavilan turns up and just reproduces what he did last time here he should prove hard to beat despite the 6lb rise in the handicap.
He was an impressive winner over course, distance and the same heavy ground when beating Copper Cove by eight and a half lengths. The retained cheekpieces seem to have brought about an improvement.
He is preferred to There Runs Mary who drops back in trip after her course fourth last time out.
She won over course and distance in November but didn’t over impress despite being sent off the 1/33 favourite for a maiden hurdle!

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
