7.45pm The DFB-Pokal Quarter-Finals continue on Wednesday night, and we have a cracker on Betdaq Betting Exchange! Bayern Munich host RB Leipzig in what should be the standout fixture of the round – however Bayern are so far ahead of everyone in Germany these days most football fans will be expecting a comfortable home win. It’s no surprise that we have a relatively one-sided betting heat here – Bayern Munich come into the game as the red-hot favourites at 1.33 with RB Leipzig 9.2 and the draw is 6.6 at the time of writing.
That price just highlights the gulf in class between Bayern and the rest this season. They are running away with the Bundesliga title – possibly predictably so given Bayer Leverkusen sold their best players and Xabi Alonso moved on. Bayern have the best attacking figure in the Bundesliga with an average xG created of 2.34 – that’s obviously exceptionally impressive. They also have the best defensive figure – the only side with an average xG conceded sub 1.0. Harry Kane has been absolutely sensational this season, breaking records left, right and centre. The England captain has already smashed 24 goals in just 21 Bundesliga games this season! He hasn’t looked back since leaving Spurs.
The way Bayern have been playing this season, it’s hard to see anyone stopping them domestically – they have dropped points in two Bundesliga games recently though. They lost at home to Augsburg which was a huge shock, and then followed that up with a draw away to Hamburger – could we call that a Bayern Munich crisis! They had 5-1 wins either side of those two games, and one of those 5-1 wins was away to RB Leipzig. It’s very difficult to see past a home win here, even with Leipzig playing to a decent level. Their average xG created is 1.75 which is the third best attacking figure in the Bundesliga – pretty impressive not including Bayern’s figure obviously. Leipzig also have the third best defensive figure in the Bundesliga, but again it’s miles off Bayern.
The gulf in class is obvious when you compare the numbers, Leipzig will need to be absolutely perfect defensively to have any chance here, and even then they’ll need Bayern to have an off night. It’s hard to see them turning around a 5-1 loss at home to now getting a result away from home! I think this one is going to be how many goals can Bayern score rather than will they actually win. Obviously there’s no prizes for tipping 1.33 shots, so we’ll have to look around the side markets for some value. We should have an entertaining game, and Over 2.5 goals is trading even shorter than the Bayern win so the market is expecting goals! Both Teams To Score is 1.58 though, and that looks worth an investment in what should be an open game. Leipzig are creating enough to score at some stage here in an open game.
