7.45pm We have a blockbuster from Europe on Saturday as Inter Milan host Juventus on Betdaq Betting Exchange . This is undoubtedly the highlight fixture of the weekend in Serie A, and in my opinion the highlight fixture anywhere in Europe this weekend! This is going to be an absolute cracker between the two best performing sides in Italy this season, and to be honest it should be a massive game in the title race but Juventus have dropped too many points already this season. At the moment Inter Milan are running away with the title, and Juventus are in a top four battle 12 points behind them. There really isn’t that much between them on under-lining numbers though.
Inter Milan have the best attacking figure in Serie A with an average xG created of 2.03 per game – they are the only side with an average xG created over 2.0 this season. They also have the best defensive figure with an average xG conceded of just 0.96 – the only side with an average xG conceded sub 1.0! Those numbers are title winning level, and they tell you exactly why Inter are running away with the title now that AC Milan and Napoli have dropped points recently. While Juventus haven’t had the results, their performance levels haven’t been far off Inter Milan.
Juventus have the second best attacking figure in Serie A with an average xG created of 1.94 per game. They also have the second best defensive figure with an average xG conceded of just 1.06. Those are outstanding numbers – there’s only 0.09 between the sides on attacking figures and just 0.10 on defensive figures. Juventus are clearly the second best side in Italy by a distance, and on paper they absolutely should be in the title race given how well they’ve been playing. The issue for Juventus has been converting their chances. In fairness to Juventus; for the past few years they have struggled to create good quality chances – at least they have fixed that problem, now they just need to start converting them. The title race might be gone this season, but you can see they are building nicely to actually challenge next season.
It’s no surprise with home advantage that Inter Milan come into the game as the favourites, but they aren’t trading odds on. Inter are trading 2.06 with Juventus 4.4 and the draw is 3.55 at the time of writing. The last time these two met it was a dramatic 4-3 win for Juventus – we also had a 4-4 draw in October 2024 so hopefully we get half the drama here! While Inter should be favourites here with home advantage, the 2.06 doesn’t jump off the page when you consider that Juventus are playing fantastic football too and they’ve come away from the last three meetings between the sides with a result too – including winning the last two meetings. This should be a very competitive Derby d’Italia between two outstanding sides, and I’m happy to lay Inter from a value point of view at 2.06; I just expect the game to be closer than those odds suggest.
