FA CUP SUNDAY: The Striker previews ARSENAL v WIGAN with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ARSENAL V WIGAN
4.30pm We have a David and Goliath FA Cup tie on Sunday as Arsenal host Wigan! This is one of the shortest prices of the weekend with Arsenal trading as short as 1.07 to win on Betdaq Betting Exchange. If you fancy a shock, Wigan are trading 44.0 with the draw 21.0 at the time of writing. We don’t often see prices as short as 1.07 with domestic football – it is usually reserved for the International games with the gulf in class there, but there’s actually an even shorter price at the weekend – Manchester City are 1.04 to win on Saturday!
It’s exceptionally difficult to see past a comfortable win for Arsenal here, so we’ll have to look around the side markets for some value. Obviously with the money in the top flight the gulf in class between the Premier League and League One has grown massively in recent seasons, and we’ll definitely need some Magic of the Cup to possibly produce a shock. Wigan fans will fondly remember their famous 2013 FA Cup Final victory over Manchester City, but the reality is this is a very different Wigan side. They are currently battling relegation in League One, and they face the best side in the Premier League here.
Arsenal did drop two points midweek as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Brentford, that result saw their lead at the top of the Premier League cut to just four points after Manchester City’s comfortable 3-0 win over Fulham the night before. Are Arsenal feeling the pressure? They certainly haven’t been at their best in recent weeks, and perhaps they are getting a little sloppy at the back. They still have an average xG conceded of just 0.89 in the Premier League – those are the best defensive figures in Europe. This FA Cup tie should be a welcome breather for the Gunners – and it represents a great chance for Arteta to rest some of his key players ahead of a hectic schedule. I would be surprised if he didn’t rest a lot of players here – they have the North London Derby coming up and Spurs have just sacked Thomas Frank!
Wigan have already pulled the trigger and also sacked their manager. They have interim managers Glenn Whelan and Graham Barrow in charge now. Their underlying numbers are poor – Wigan have an average xG created of just 1.23, and their average xG conceded is 1.45. Nothing that’s going to worry Arsenal. This one is going to be about how many goals can Arsenal score rather than will they win – the handicap is 3.5 goals if you want a decent price on Arsenal at over 2.0. I actually prefer Arsenal to keep a clean sheet on the way to winning – Both Teams Not To Score is worth a small investment at 1.47.
The Striker Says:
One point win Both Teams Not To Score at 1.47 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
