REAL MADRID V BAYERN MUNICH

8pm The Champions League Quarter-Finals are here, and we have a blockbuster week ahead on Betdaq Betting Exchange! We have some huge fixtures this week with some of the biggest clubs in the world clashing, and we kick off Tuesday night with two European giants clash as Real Madrid host Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu. 15 European Cups for Real and 6 for Bayernyou simply could not write a more fitting fixture to start the Quarter-Final’s. Both sides dispatched their Round of 16 opponents emphatically – Real beat Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate in a statement performance, while Bayern absolutely demolished Atalanta 10-2 on aggregate. The stage is set for something special. The only negative this week is UEFA not moving fixture times so we can enjoy both games, rather than having the two of them kick off at the same time – although no doubt all eyes will be here over Sporting Lisbon v Arsenal! Real Madrid have had a rollercoaster season – Xabi Alonso didn’t last long in charge as it seemed player power won out in that regard – another loss at the weekend though left them seven points behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race. Manchester City went into the Last 16 tie as the favourites, and now Bayern Munich come into this tie as favourites so it seems the market wants to be against Real this season. No surprises given their results in fairness.

Bayern Munich are trading 2.24 with Real Madrid 3.0 and the draw is 4.3 at the time of writing. Bayern’s average xG created of 2.30 is the best attacking figure in the Bundesliga by a distance, and their average xG conceded of 1.06 is the best defensive figure too. They have been on a different planet domestically all season; but obviously things are a lot tougher in the Champions League. Real have been playing well in La Liga, but not as good as Barcelona and obviously they have had issues in the dressing room. Their average xG created of 2.08 is the second best attacking figure in La Liga, still impressive. Real Madrid have won all three previous Champions League Quarter-Finals against Bayern, but Bayern have a massive amount of their favour here. Given their strong position in the Bundesliga, they were able to rest Harry Kane at the weekend, who picked up an ankle knock while training with England during the international break, I would lean towards Bayern at 2.24 in the match odds market. However, I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market because this game screams goals. Both sides like to play an open game, and Real have been a little sloppy at the back this season too. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.48 and that looks worth a confident bet to start the Quarter-Finals!

The Ultra Says:
Three points win Over 2.5 goals at 1.48 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

SPORTING LISBON V ARSENAL

8pm We finish Tuesday night with Sporting Lisbon v Arsenal, a cracking tie in its own right, but obviously Real Madrid v Bayern Munich will take the headlines here! Arsenal are going through a little rough patch at the moment – they were chasing a quadruple just two weeks ago; now, after losing the EFL Cup Final to Manchester City before the break and then crashing out of the FA Cup at the weekend, their season has been cut down to two competitions. The Champions League and the Premier League are all that remain. In fairness to Arsenal, they basically have two hands on the Premier League trophy already and they will be strongly fancied to progress to the Semi-Finals here – that might bring its own pressure though, and obviously the question of Arsenal handling pressure is still out there. Arsenal’s FA Cup exit at the weekend was a big surprise, against a Championship side too. Sporting Lisbon have put together a remarkable Champions League campaign – memorably coming back from 3-0 down at Bodø/Glimt to win 5-0 at home in the Last 16, one of the great comebacks in the competition this season. You get the feeling this is a must win game for them – they have to take a lead to London to have any chance.

Given the gulf in class between the sides, it’s no surprise to see Arsenal come into the game as the odds on favourites. Arsenal are trading 1.78 with Sporting Lisbon 5.1 and the draw is 4.0 at the time of writing. Arsenal’s underlying numbers in the Premier League are very impressive – their average xG conceded of 0.92 is the best defensive figure in Europe. Arteta’s side are the tournament favourites for good reason – they have the look of the most solid side in the competition, and the general feeling here is they have the “easiest” Quarter-Final. I wouldn’t quite be rushing to take the 1.78 here though. Arteta has set his side up to be very cagey, and Arsenal have got criticism this year calling them boring. Arteta could easily view this fixture from the point of view of “let’s just get back to London” and I can’t see Arsenal being too open and attacking to be honest. I feel this will be a more quiet game than the market is expecting, and Under 2.5 goals looks the value call at 1.97. I’m not going to go crazy with the stakes here – Sporting at home create plenty of chances of course – but Arseanl have the best defence in Europe to soak up any pressure.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Under 2.5 goals at 1.97 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
