WEST HAM V WOLVES

8pm The Premier League is back with Friday Night Football on Betdaq Betting Exchange! You could argue this is the biggest game of the season so far as West Ham host Wolves – it’s an absolute six-pointer in the relegation battle. With seven games to go, both sides are under immense pressure. West Ham sit 18th on 29 points while Wolves are rooted to the bottom in 20th on just 17 points. A win for either side would obviously be massive in the battle to survive. For Wolves, it’s potentially the most important result in a sequence of what looks like a now-or-never run of fixtures against very winnable games. Wins against Aston Villa and Liverpool have given Wolves a small chance of staying up, and now the general feeling is they have the easiest run-in of all.

A win for West Ham would put Spurs into the relegation zone, which would obviously create some massive headlines too. Plenty at stake! Wolves actually won the reverse fixture at Molineux back in January 3-0, a result that left Nuno under serious pressure at West Ham. That humiliating defeat and a loss to Nottingham Forest quickly after were the results that sparked a major West Ham reaction – they then picked up crucial wins at Spurs and beat Sunderland, and while they have only won one of their last six in the league, they have shown more resilience. They picked up draws against both Manchester clubs. While both sides are obviously limited, you could say that they come into this fixture is their best form of the season really.

I feel this is a market that is going to have some big opinions either side of the book. West Ham come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.91 with Wolves 4.4 and the draw is 3.9 at the time of writing. It’s a must win game for Wolves, so I can’t see them sitting back. Both teams are still performing at a level that looks like relegation material when you dig into the underlying data – West Ham’s average xG created of 1.17 is the joint-third worst attacking figure in the Premier League, Wolves are even worse in attack with an average xG created of just 1.09. They are both in the bottom four defensive figures too – West Ham have an average xG conceded of 1.79 which is very high, and Wolves sit at 1.63. Perhaps we can ignore the under-lining numbers given recent results and what is at stake, but they are both poor sides to be honest.

From that point of view, it’s very difficult to take an odds on price. I do feel the 1.91 is simply too short on West Ham – they have been very poor at the back since David Moyes left and that shows no sign of changing. The atmosphere at the London Stadium is always questioned because of the layout of the stadium – surely the home fans will deliver here, but I do expect a closer game than the odds suggest. I couldn’t put anyone off a West Ham lay, but with both sides so poor at the back and this being a must win game, I do feel we’ll see goals. Over 2.5 goals is trading the same price as the West Ham win, and Both Teams To Score is 1.83. I feel both those options are good value, and I’m happy to be on Overs at 1.91.

The Striker Says:
Two points win Over 2.5 goals at 1.91 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
