✔️ WON 4-5 DIAMOND NECKLACE French 1,000 Guineas Sunday nap
PLAGE PLOT FOR MURPHY
⭕ 2.20 York (Race To The Ebor) Five winners of this in the decade actually used their free ticket to the Ebor: nearest among them to finish in the big York handicap in August was 10th.
Low numbers in the draw are at a disadvantage; so, too, older horses (no recent winners over the age of five).
Andrew Balding has one well drawn but you have to decide: was Plage De Havre’s 11lb rise for winning the Old Newton Cup at Haydock justified?
Fifth-home Stressfree is 12lb better off and was subsequently fourth in the Ebor, fifth in both the Newbury Autumn Cup and the November Handicap. In other words, he regularly has just a few pounds too many.
Paddy The Squire, who wins fresh, was a 20lb improver last year but was well beaten in the Old Newton Cup by Plage De Havre.
There’s not much between between Sing Us A Song and Klassleader, one-two in a lower grade in September.
As four-year-olds, they could improve but will have to, if they are to catch Oisin Murphy on Plage De Havre. Betdaq Betting Exchange 5.7 offers this morning.
STORM WELL HANDICAPPED
⭕ 2.55 York Clear favourites in this 6f sprint have paid out only once in the decade and that was place only (4th in a big field). Seven out of 10 carried less than 9st, like last year’s runner-up Dark Thirty today. BETDAQ 12.5.
Kevin Ryan, who won it back to back in 2023-4, runs three but the Fahey yard (also two wins) relies on April Leicester scorer Strike Red, a CD winner here off 3lb higher.
There are three other CD winners to note: Binhareer, hit with a 10lb rise for capturing the Coral Sprint Trophy here in October (last year’s winner of this, Rousing Encore, behind); and Pilgrim, a Royal Ascot scorer and the Scottish Sprint winner the last day.
Tropical Storm (first-time visor), a Listed-sprint winner twice at York, hampered in his run here at 6f in August, won 10lb higher at this meeting a year ago. BETDAQ 21.0.
COOL HAND FOR LUKE..
⭕ 3.30 York (Minster Stakes) Six out of nine winners came from stalls 1 to 5. That four-year-olds dominate this Group 2 with 9/10 won’t put off the fans of 15.0 offer Elmonjed (111 in last three runs at York) and currently progressive Aramram.
But Big Mojo (5lb penalty) and Kind Of Blue, one-two in the Haydock Sprint Cup, are Group-1 opponents, as is Commonwealth Cup winner, Time For Sandals, 7th in the Haydock race.
Cool Hoof Luke missed out 2025 but is back in AW form and could now step up on his Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes success at York the previous August (Big Mojo 4th). BETDAQ 8.1.
GOSDEN’S MUSIDORA LINK
⭕ 4.05 York (Musidora Stakes) Team Gosden has won this seven times out of 15 since 2011 but only Soul Sister in 2023 went on to win the Epsom Oaks.
His filly today, Legacy Link, a Dubawi out of a sister to Frankel, was fourth in the Fillies Mile at Newmarket in October behind the 1,000 Guineas beaten favourite, Precise.
In fifth that day was Aidan O’Brien’s Justify filly, Moments Of Joy. The stable has won it twice and one of them, Snowfall (2021), landed an Oaks hat-trick at Epsom, the Curragh and York.
With Sea The Storm, William Haggas goes for a second Musidora winner but the Sea The Stars filly has to make a big leap forward as a Wetherby winner.
Felicitas has earned the same 96 rating as Sea The Storm, educated for Epsom round the bends of Lingfield and Sandown, beating nothing well but highly thought of.
From the Beckett yard which usually fields a nice Group-1 filly, K Sarra failed to show in the Fred Darling. She’s bred to be decent and could be involved with that run to bring her on.
No form reason to consider AW winner Della Pace but remember that George Boughey already has a Classic winner this term.
