PREVIEW
Two lacklustre performances versus Schalke, the first a 2-0 home defeat and the second in Germany when they let slip a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2, is likely to cost Arsenal top spot in Group B. That will mean Arsene Wenger’s men could face the likes of AC Milan, Real Madrid or Paris Saint Germain in the next round.
Wenger seems to have accepted second place as he has left behind Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker for tonight’s trip to Greece to face Olympiacos. Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski have also stayed behind through injury.
Olympiacos have dropped just four points in the Greek League this season and sit ten points clear of second place Paok Salonika. However, they haven’t set Europe alight, losing three and winning two of their five games so far, but they are generally a tough team to break down at home.
All five of the previous clashes between the two clubs have ended in home wins. Unfortunately, Wenger’s squad selection has not escaped the notice of layers and the Greeks are only 2.28 on BETDAQ to round off their Champions league campaign with a win.
Although short enough at that price, they still look the best bet on a tricky night of European football.
